Modelling choreographer arrested for raping woman on false marriage promise
Thiruvananthapuram: Kazhakkoottam police on Sunday arrested a Kozhikode-based modelling choreographer for allegedly raping a techie working at the Technopark on a false marriage promise.
The arrested person was identified by police as Fahid, 27, of Thiruvambadi. Police arrested the accused in Kozhikode and discovered several nude photographs of other women stored on his mobile phone.
Police said the accused got acquainted with the woman, who is also into modelling, last year during an event. The accused also defrauded lakhs of rupees from the women.
According to the complaint, the accused after promising to marry the woman took her to several hotels and sexually exploited her.
"The rape took place in Feb, March and April 2024. Later he withdrew from the relationship. In the meantime, after the woman's parents intervened in the issue the accused conveyed his willingness to marry her to the parents as well. However, he withdrew from the marriage and it led her to a state of depression," said police.
The woman decided to approach the police after discovering that the accused was involved with several other women as well. The complainant also produced proof of money transferred to the accused's account on several occasions. The accused even blocked the woman on his mobile and social media profiles, police said.
The accused was remanded in judicial custody for 14 days after being produced before a court as per Section 376 (2) of the IPC for rape.

Caught on camera: Restaurant vandalised over delay in food service in Ghaziabad
Panic broke out late Saturday night at a restaurant in Ghaziabad when a group of armed men stormed in and vandalised the premises, causing chaos amongst diners, including women and children. Tyagi also alleged in his complaint that some of the accused had previously visited the restaurant on June 6, drunk and involved in a brawl, but the matter was settled that of three accused have come to light - Mintu Tyagi, Rajdeep, and Ravi Sharma. Based on the complaint, an FIR has been registered under IPC sections 352 (assault or use of criminal force), 115(2), 324(4), 351(3), and 309(6).Police are now scrutinising the CCTV footage to identify and arrest the accused. Israel says Hamas Gaza chief Mohammed Sinwar's body recovered
The Israeli military recovered the body of Gaza-based Hamas militant group's de facto chief Mohammed Sinwar in a tunnel beneath the European Hospital in the southern city of Khan Younis, the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) announced on Sunday. The IDF made the announcement after it conducted a thorough identification of the body via DNA checks, though Hamas is yet to publicly confirm the death of Sinwar. Mohammed Sinwar, 49, was killed by the Israeli military in an air strike on May 13, in which at least 28 Palestinians were killed and dozens of them were injured, a Hamas-run civil defence agency had claimed. IDF spokesperson Brig Gen Effie Defrin confirmed the development and stated that in one of the rooms they found Sinwar's body, which was located in the narrow underground corridor of the tunnel. 'This is another example of the cynical use by Hamas, using civilians as human shields, using civilian infrastructure, hospitals, again and again,' Defrin said.
