Jay-Z's $1 million NBA Finals bet went up in smoke already
Like many NBA fans, Jay-Z had some action riding on the NBA Finals. And like many of those bets, his money was on the Oklahoma City Thunder.
However, Jigga wasn't just convinced the Thunder would win the series, he knew how many games it would take for OKC to vanquish the Indiana Pacers -- or so he thought.
Jay-Z put $1 million on the Thunder to win the series in five games, which became highly unlikely after the Pacers stole Game 1. And after their Game 3 win last night, that bet officially became a loser. It would have won $3.3 million.
A million dollars to me and most of you isn't the same as it is to Jay-Z, who basically burned what amounted to a little pocket change. But it will be interesting to see if he goes public with any more bets in the future. I'm sure his ego is hurting a little more than his pockets.

When will Caitlin Clark return from injury? Here's what we know about the Fever star

When will Caitlin Clark return from injury? Here's what we know about the Fever star Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark has been out since May 24 with a quad injury. Clark has missed the last five games. As she approaches nearly three weeks without playing basketball, it begs the question: When will she return for the Fever? Unfortunately, her timetable for return isn't immediately clear. The Indiana star was re-evaluated around June 8 and has been allowed to begin certain aspects of practice. However, head coach Stephanie White has not indicated when Clark (or guard Sophie Cunningham, who has also been out with an ankle injury) will return. On Thursday, she shared a somewhat positive update on their recent activity. MORE CAITLIN CLARK: Caitlin Clark hit the Pacers' choking celebration at NBA Finals Game 3"We limited their reps," White told the media. "Really try to see if [we could] get them up and down the floor a little bit. Start to try to get into a game rhythm. Game speed. Game pace. Timing a little bit off. Rhythm a little bit off, but continuing to try to work them in as much as we could." The Fever have gone 2-3 in Clark's absence, and have tried to supplement what she brings to the team with help from veteran guard Syd Colson and hardship contract player Aari McDonald. However, it's hard to replace that kind of impact, and the journey without her could continue to be up and down. The Fever play the New York Liberty on Saturday, June 14, before trudging through a three-game slate during the week of June 16. Indiana will play the Connecticut Sun at home on June 17 and then travel to play the Golden State Valkyries (June 19) and the Las Vegas Aces (June 22).

What do we know about the Boston Celtics trade talks with other NBA teams?

What do we know about the Boston Celtics trade talks with other NBA teams so far this offseason? As the 2025 NBA draft draws closer by the day, we are hearing an increasing amount of chatter about what the Celtics front office has been doing on the trade front as they likely look to offload salary ahead of a potentially historic payroll and tax bill. But it is also the time of the league calendar where one can find a lot of rumors about trade plans coming from parties trying to influence the outcome of deals for their own interests, so all things percolating up about Boston's trade plans should be taken with several grains of salt. The folks behind the "NBA Front Office" YouTube channel put together a clip from their show talking over what they have been hearing about the Celtics. Are teams really interested in trading for star Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown?

Are teams really interested in trading for star Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown? Are teams really interested in trading for star Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown? The Georgia native is one of the top 20 or so players in the NBA, so there should be no reason that they would not want to have him on their roster, save for the cap concerns created by the second apron of the NBA's collective bargaining agreement (CBA). But they also have to think there is at least a chance they might be able to pry him away from the Celtics to let their interest in Brown slip to the league's news breakers, and we have recently heard from ESPN's Shams Charania that there is indeed interest in trading for the Cal alum. The folks behind the "WEEI Boston's Sports Original" YouTube channel put together a clip from their "WEEI Afternoons" show to talk it over recently. Take a look at the clip embedded below to hear what they had to say.
