Who Is Manmeet Singh? Indian-Origin Blogger Fined In Singapore Over False TikTok Claim

Last Updated: The court found that Singh made these claims without verifying the information, which he had received from an unknown source via WhatsApp An Indian-origin blogger, Manmeet Singh, was fined SGD 6,000 (approximately Rs 4 lakh) by a Singapore court on Friday for sharing a false claim that promoted racial disharmony. Singh, 57, pleaded guilty to knowingly posting content on TikTok that accused the country's minister of making offensive remarks about a minority community. The video, uploaded in August 2024, falsely claimed that Singapore's Minister for Digital Development and Information, Josephine Teo, had insulted the Malay community—who make up about 15 per cent of Singapore's population—during an interview with Chinese media. The court found that Singh made these claims without verifying the information, which he had received from an unknown source via WhatsApp. The TikTok video was viewed widely and prompted questions to the minister from her colleagues and a journalist. A police report was filed shortly after. Who Is Manmeet Singh And What Did He Claim? Indian-origin Manmeet Singh is known in Singapore for posting on socio-political topics through platforms like TikTok. He previously gained attention as the bodyguard of former presidential candidate Tan Kin Lian, and his TikTok account had over 9,000 followers at the time of the offence. On 12 August 2024, Singh received a link to a WordPress blog post from an unknown number. The blog falsely alleged that Josephine Teo had said 'Malays are i*****" during a media interview. Offended by the claim, Singh recorded a TikTok video with a caption repeating the allegation, telling his followers to 'go look it up". However, just hours after uploading the video, Singh began to doubt the credibility of the claim and took the video down. He also posted a follow-up video apologising to Teo and acknowledged that the allegation was likely false. However, despite this, a police complaint had already been filed by Teo's press secretary. Earlier in February, Singh was arrested and granted bail the following day. His defence lawyers had told the court that he was 'racked with guilt" and had no intent to spread hatred or misinformation. His counsel had stressed that Singh does not create content for profit or popularity, but as a form of expression on issues he feels strongly about. He has since taken steps to avoid political controversy and now checks the reliability of his sources more carefully. Under Singaporean law, promoting racial disharmony is a serious offence. Singh could have faced up to three years in prison, a fine, or both. (With inputs from agencies) Location : Singapore

Why and how Elon Musk's 'Big bomb' about Donald Trump, for which he wished him 'Nice Day', may not really be so

Elon Musk's routine departure from the White House has rapidly evolved into a series of explosive accusations and threats. Amid this escalating tension, Musk has made a significant claim that US President Donald Trump was named in the Epstein Files and that this is the reason why Jeffrey Epstein files have not been fully disclosed. However, the claim may not really be the 'Big Bomb" as Elon Musk suggests. Reason being -- Trump's name had already appeared in a publicly released list of over 150 individuals linked to the Epstein scandal , The list surfaced in January, 2024, as part of a long-running civil case involving Ghislaine Maxwell , Epstein's former girlfriend. Jeffrey Epstein was an American financier and child sex offender. According to a list published by Time magazine (online) on January 4 last year, Trump's name was mentioned in the court documents that listed celebrities that were previously associated with Epstein. Notably, the documents contain no alleged wrongdoing by Trump. Trump ties to Jeffrey Epstein have been previously documented, including in a 2016 deposition by Johanna Sjoberg, one of Epstein's victims and accusers. In her testimony, Johanna Sjoberg recalled an unplanned stop in Atlantic City with Jeffrey Epstein caused by poor flying conditions. When questioned about whether she had ever given Donald Trump a massage, she denied it. According to the Time report, Trump had once described Epstein as a 'terrific guy,' but later in 2019, he claimed they had a falling out and claimed that he had "not spoken to him for 15 years. I was not a fan of his.' What Elon Musk said about Trump's connection with Jeffrey Epstein After a string of tweets attacking Trump, Musk said in a post that Trump's name is in the Epstein files. 'Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!' Musk wrote on X (formerly Twitter). 'Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out," he followed up in another post. Musk also reacted to a post in which a clip shows Trump in his youth partying with Epstein and women in 1992. It is to be noted that Musk did not reveal any details related to exact connection between Trump and Epstein. AI Masterclass for Students. Upskill Young Ones Today!– Join Now

All you need to know about Allu Arjun's arrest in 2024 On December 4, 2024, a stampede at Hyderabad's Sandhya Theatre resulted in the death of 39-year-old Revathi and left her son, Sri Teja, critically injured. Authorities attributed the tragedy to an uncontrolled rush of fans attempting to enter the venue to catch a glimpse of actor Allu Arjun. Police reported that they were not informed in advance about the attendance of the Pushpa 2 team, leading to a lack of proper crowd control measures. Following the incident, Allu Arjun, his security team, and the Sandhya Theatre management were charged under Sections 105 and 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), relating to culpable homicide not amounting to murder and voluntarily causing hurt. All parties were arrested on December 13. The actor spent one night in custody before being granted regular bail by a Hyderabad court. As part of the bail conditions, the Nampally court required Allu Arjun to submit two sureties of Rs 50,000 each. He returned home to his wife and Sneha Reddy and kids the next morning. Few days later, on December 24, the actor held a press conference where he publicly reacted to the incident and spoke about the character assassination and humiliation he and his family had to face all throughout. He had further clarified the 'misinformation" that was being spread about him. Soon after, the matter was put to rest. First Published:
