The Northern Irishman also has a statue built on the island.
Joey held the record for almost 25 years after his untimely death following a crash in 2000.
Now his record has been overtaken - with Michael Dunlop the man to take it.
Who is Michael Dunlop?
Michael Dunlop is a motorcycle rider most famous for his exploits in the Isle of Man TT.
He comes from that famous racing family as the son of Robert Dunlop, brother of William.
Dunlop is also the nephew of Joey.
Michael made his Isle of Man TT debut in 2007, finishing 25th aged just 18.
Since then he has had one of the most spectacular careers in the sport.
His first win came in the Supersport TT in 2009, while he has won four races in a single event three times - in 2013, 2014, and 2023.
Since 2010, the only year he didn't win a race was in 2015, when did not finish in four races and finished second in one other.
With FOUR wins in 2024 he passed uncle Joey as the most successful rider in the history of the Isle of Man TT - as well as taking home a bit of prize money for his wins.
Dunlop has been back at it in 2025, winning the Supersport TT Race 1 on day one of the event.
Who has won the most races at the Isle of Man TT?
Until this year, Joey Dunlop had held the record since 2000.
Joey won three races that year, aged 48, just weeks before his death in Estonia in another race.
John McGuinness had come closest to threatening Dunlop's record, winning 23 races between 1999 and 2015.
But it was Michael who finally managed to overtake the great man.
His win in the Supertwins TT made it win No 27 and his eighth in just 17 races since 2022.
He went on to win two more races in 2024 - making it four wins for a second consecutive year - to take his overall tally to 29.

What did Michael Dunlop say about breaking the record?
Michael Dunlop said that "everyone's inspiration was to be a Joey Dunlop around the Isle of Man".
He said: "I'm no better than Joey, never was.
"Joey's record stood for 24 years and it's an honour. Joey was a special talent.
"My record will be beaten one day but I don't care."
He also said he had to overcome some issues on the day to win.
"We had an issue in first practice and were struggling a wee bit but the boys worked hard on it and the bike was mint.
"We had to push on as I knew we would."

Following recent further tests, the midfielder was forced to hang up his boots. Explaining the situation, club president Sticchi Damiani said: "He will not receive medical clearance. "The season began, unfortunately, with a major obstacle: the bad news about Joan Gonzalez, who failed his medical. "We called him back after a year for a new check-up, which took place a few days ago, and the situation remains the same." Damiani was then full of praise for Lecce's medical staff. The Italian continued: "A round of applause to our medical team, to Dr. Tondo, because they detected a congenital condition that is very difficult to diagnose. "It's a case study. Thanks to that, the boy's life was saved." Damiani also gushed over Gonzalez's professionalism and ability. The Lecce chief added: "He has faced it with a balance, serenity and intelligence that make us think he would have been a great footballer." Newcastle confirm first summer signing after pipping Barcelona, Real Madrid and Porto to Spanish wonderkid Damiani then admitted that he believes Gonzalez will become a "great manager". The Spaniard played 66 times for Lecce's first team, scoring twice. Gonzalez's final appearance came on May 26, 2024 - in his side's 0-0 draw with Napoli on the final day of the 2023-24 season.

‘I'd back her in the Derby' – Legendary jockey says £325,000 Epsom Oaks runner is an absolute good thing

Punters are starting to agree with him FLOWER POWER 'I'd back her in the Derby' – Legendary jockey says £325,000 Epsom Oaks runner is an absolute good thing Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) LEGENDARY jockey Kieren Fallon says the £325,000 winner of the Oaks is a 'foregone conclusion' - and he'd even back her in the Derby. Ryan Moore has opted to ride Aidan O'Brien's Minnie Hauk in the prestigious Group 1 for fillies and the dream duo have combined to win two of the past five renewals. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 1 Kieran Fallon says there is no way 1,000 Guineas winner Desert Flower will be beaten in Friday's Oaks Credit: PA But Fallon is certain Desert Flower is an absolute good thing this year. Charlie Appleby's Godolphin three-year-old - who will be ridden by William Buick - was awesome in winning the 1,000 Guineas last month. And Fallon believes there are absolutely no question marks over her ability to stay the 1m4f trip on the Downs. The six-time former champion jockey - who recently revealed two things he hates about racing today - said of the 13-8 favourite: "If the filly was running in the Derby I would think she would be very competitive, I would be wanting to back her. "I think the Oaks is a foregone conclusion and she ticks all the boxes. "She settles and will switch off nicely and she will be fine over the trip and she will go on any ground. "She's the nicest filly I've seen in a long time and I thought she would maybe even be good enough to beat the colts." Fallon knows what he is talking about. He won the Oaks four times between 1997 and 2006 and bagged the Derby three times in six years from 1999. Buick and Appleby combined to land the 1,000 and 2,000 Guineas last month. And their superstar colt Ruling Court is joint-fav with O'Brien's Delacroix to win his second Classic in a row in Saturday's £1.5million Derby. But Fallon, who rides out at Appleby's Moulton Paddocks base, isn't so sure on his credentials. He added: "Maybe it's best to stick with Ryan Moore and the draw for Delacroix (in 14) doesn't really matter if the horse is good enough. "Ruling Court has lots of speed and won the best trial, but will he stay? "I think Delacroix is guaranteed to stay whereas Ruling Court isn't. "He's a horse with a lot of speed, but if there is a bit of cut in the ground it might not be ideal. "Aidan has a great record in the race and you have to respect that, but it would be a very nice double if Charlie could do it." In the aptly named Kent town of Deal, National Fish and Chip Day was celebrated with 300 portions of chips given away, as well as a limited run of battered fish. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 1 The chippy was fronted by two electric cars and fronted by TikTok's 'Chip Shop Diva But it wasn't your ordinary chip shop, with the chippy being powered by two electric cars and fronted by TikTok's 'Chip Shop Diva', Destiny Harold. The Dacia Spring, which its makers say is the cheapest electric vehicle currently on the market, was the power behind the frying, in partnership with local chippy, The Blue Mermaid Fish Bar. It comes after a poll of 2,000 adults found fish and chips is the most popular treat on a British holiday, as well as cream tea and hot doughnuts. Others to feature in the top 20 list include Mr Whippy ice cream, Cornish pasties and mussels. Quintessentially British foods, such as fish finger sandwiches, strawberries and cream and a pie and mash also featured in the ranking. A spokesperson for car brand Dacia said: 'It was fun treating passers-by today and showing the power of our electric car, Spring, using its vehicle to load technology, which allows you to power external devices off the car's battery. 'It's no surprise we have a national day dedicated to the iconic meal that is fish and chips and the study shows just how much we love it and associate it with holidays by the seaside. 'Playing on the phrase 'cheap as chips' in line with our affordable car and being in the appropriately named Deal, was a great way to celebrate National Fish and Chip Day.' The research also found 41% of adults describe such foods as nostalgic, while 45% feel satisfied after eating them. When ordering a classic fish and chips, cod (48%) and haddock (19%) were the most popular choices, but 69% simply order a portion of chips. It also emerged 44% believe fish and chips is the 'food of the people' and 39% said class doesn't impact how people eat it. While 46% feel there is something nostalgic about eating the British staple with a wooden fork, which 33% typically do, although 38% opt to eat it by hand. Food psychologist, James Cornish, said: 'There are few things that unite the British public quite like fish and chips. 'Golden, salty, comforting, and steeped in history, this timeless dish is more than a meal - it's a national treasure. 'Loved across generations, social classes, and regions, it's one of those rare things that truly brings us together. 'There's a certain kind of magic in fish and chips - a simple meal that somehow carries the weight of memory, comfort, and delight. 'Maybe it's because we don't expect too much from humble food, but our delight is excelled through the delivering of more than we expected.'
