ICAI to review Gensol and BluSmart financial statements
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (
ICAI
) has decided to review the financial statements of
Gensol Engineering Ltd
and
BluSmart Mobility Pvt Ltd
for the financial year 2023–24, following serious allegations of
financial misconduct
and governance lapses involving the two companies.
The move was confirmed by ICAI president Charanjot Singh Nanda, who said the decision was taken during a board meeting of the Financial Reporting Review Board (FRRB) on Wednesday.
Nanda told PTI that the FRRB decided to undertake a review of the financial statements and the statutory auditor's report of Gensol Engineering and BluSmart Mobility for the financial year 2023-24.
The FRRB's mandate includes assessing compliance with accounting standards, standards on auditing, and schedules II and III of the Companies Act, 2013.
It also evaluates adherence to various guidance notes and RBI-issued master directions.
Gensol Engineering recently came under regulatory scrutiny after the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) issued a market ban on the company's promoters, Anmol Singh Jaggi and Puneet Singh Jaggi. The order, issued on April 15, alleged that the promoters siphoned off loan funds from the publicly-listed firm for personal gain, raising serious concerns about corporate governance and potential financial misconduct.
BluSmart Mobility, which operates a ride-hailing service, is also promoted by Anmol Singh Jaggi.
In case the FRRB identifies significant accounting irregularities during its review, the matter will be referred to ICAI's Director Discipline for a detailed investigation. The findings may also be shared with relevant regulatory authorities.
Meanwhile, the ministry of corporate affairs said on April 21 that it will consider taking appropriate action against Gensol Engineering after examining Sebi's order.
Under the Companies Act, 2013, the ministry has powers to act on corporate violations, which may include inspections by the Registrar of Companies or a probe by the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) in more serious cases.

Plaint filed over misrepresentation of NEET UG results
Mangaluru: The National Pre University Students, Parents and Teachers Association has filed a written complaint with the department of higher education and the National Test Agency (NTA) regarding alleged tampering of the NTA NEET UG 2025 result, misrepresentation, and misuse for self-promotion of a candidate in Udupi. The candidate in question is the son of a senior state govt official working in Udupi. The alleged tampering of the NEET-2025 results sheet went viral on social media. Mithesh Kumar Moodukonaje, secretary of NPUSPTA, in his letter to officials, sought an immediate investigation into the matter involving alleged tampering and falsification of the NEET UG 2025 result declared by the NTA on June 14. He stated that it came to their notice that the candidate from a private PU college in Udupi allegedly tampered with the original NEET UG 2025 scorecard and generated falsified documents to claim higher ranks, including the first rank in Udupi district and eighth rank in Karnataka. It was subsequently published in a leading regional Kannada daily for the purpose of self-promotion and publicity for the coaching institution concerned. After learning about it, NPUSPTA tried to verify the facts. Preliminary scrutiny showed that these scorecards deviate from the standard format of NTA-issued scorecards and that the QR codes on the documents do not link to the official NTA website, raising a strong presumption of forgery and digital fraud under applicable provisions of the Information Technology Act, 2000, and the Indian Penal Code, 1860. Also, they discovered through social media that AIR 107 was allotted to Bhavhya Jayna of Aakash Digital Coaching. Association members also visited the local coaching centre in Udupi and verified the authenticity. The candidate's past academic records from grade 10 to IIPU mark sheets do not correlate reasonably with the high score and rank being claimed, further suggesting fabrication and misrepresentation for undue advantage, they said. The association has demanded a thorough investigation by the NTA and any other competent investigating authority to establish the facts, detect digital fraud, and verify the authenticity of the documents in question. Secondly, they called for the initiation of appropriate criminal and disciplinary proceedings, issuance of a directive to all print, electronic, and online media houses to verify rank/result claims directly with NTA before publishing such information, failing which appropriate penal provisions under existing media and defamation laws may be invoked. They also requested public disclosure by NTA of verified NEET UG results (in compliance with privacy laws and RTI Act norms) to enhance transparency and prevent the recurrence of such fraudulent claims. When TOI contacted the father of the candidate, he denied any wrongdoing from their side and said the mistake was made by the coaching institute their ward attended. "It was downloaded and sent by a coaching institute which had his login credentials. We will file a complaint against them," he maintained.

FRRB is reviewing the IndusInd Bank's financial statements for 2023-24 and 2024-25 and that of Gensol Engineering and BluSmart Mobility for 2023-24. If the FRRB finds that the books of the entities were not true and fair, the matter will be referred to ICAI's disciplinary committee for further action.
