Minnesota Lynx announce four free over-the-air TV broadcasts this summer originally appeared on Bring Me The News.
The (currently undefeated) Minnesota Lynx are partnering with KARE 11 and FanDuel Sports Network to simulcast four upcoming games on the local NBC affiliate, making them free to watch for roughly 1.5 million households across the greater Twin Cities region.
Starting with this Sunday's matchup against the Golden State Valkyries, four Sunday games will be broadcast over the air, expanding accessibility for fans who may not have access to FanDuel Sports Network North or ION or other channels that typically air Lynx games.
These are the four contests:
June 1: at Golden State Valkyries, 7:30 p.m. CT
June 8: vs. Dallas Wings, 3:00 p.m. CT
June 29: vs. Connecticut Sun, 6:00 p.m. CT
July 6: vs. Chicago Sky, 6:00 p.m. CT
The Valkyries are the WNBA's newest expansion team, the 13th franchise to join the growing league. The June 8 matchup against the Wings will give fans another opportunity to watch Hopkins native and former UConn star Paige Bueckers (provided she's out of the league's concussion protocol by then).
The games will be called, as usual, by FDSN broadcasters Marney Gellner and Lea B. Olsen. KARE 11 will produce pre- and postgame shows.
'KARE 11 is proud to bring Lynx basketball to more fans across Minnesota and Northwest Wisconsin for free," said Doug Wieder, president and general manager of KARE 11, in a press release. "Local sports are part of who we are, and we're excited to help the Lynx broaden their reach and deepen their connection with fans throughout the region."
The Lynx are 6-0 after a clutch road win over the Phoenix Mercury on Friday night — a game they won without their best player, league MVP candidate Napheesa Collier. There's hope that Collier, who didn't play due to knee soreness, will be able to return for Sunday's game in San Francisco.
It's the first time the Lynx have started 6-0 since 2017, the year they won their most recent of four WNBA titles. They're looking to win another one this year after losing in controversial fashion to the New York Liberty in the decisive Game 5 of last year's finals.

Jalen Williams answers biggest lesson he's learned from Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

Jalen Williams answers biggest lesson he's learned from Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Looking like a Gen Z version of Michael Jordon and Scottie Pippen, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams have headlined one of the most dominant squads in NBA history. The Oklahoma City Thunder are four wins away from a championship to cement their spot. While not apples-to-apples — at least not yet — you have a superb-efficient 30-point scorer and an elite two-way wing in each duo. The Thunder have translated their 68-14 record to playoff success. They made the Western Conference field look like a walk in the park. Since arriving in 2022, Williams has been tied to Gilgeous-Alexander. Both have ascended in their respective career trajectories. Williams went from a small-school lottery pick to an All-NBA member. Gilgeous-Alexander went from a first-time All-Star to a first-time MVP winner. Now on the cusp of an NBA championship, Williams has had a front-row view to see Gilgeous-Alexander grow into one of the league's icons. He had a chance to reflect on their three-year journey together ahead of the 2025 NBA Finals Game 1. "His mentality. Just a winner. He just has an 'I'm going to get it done' mentality. I think that's kind of rubbed off on the rest of the team. You can always see, he doesn't make excuses. I think that bleeds over into the team," Williams said. "I would say I've probably taken that from him. I think that's where he's grown up as a leader. Not saying he wasn't earlier on in his career but just for our team he's been really good leading us that way. He's a good, like, lead-by-example." If the Thunder beat the Pacers, Gilgeous-Alexander and Williams will be two of the biggest reasons. They've headlined their team this season as both became All-Star and All-NBA teammates. Your best players are naturally going to spend a lot of time together, so it's insightful to hear his thoughts on his growth in intangibles.

Shaquille O'Neal Makes Clear Choice Between LeBron James and Kobe Bryant

Shaquille O'Neal Makes Clear Choice Between LeBron James and Kobe Bryant originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Following Game 6 of the Eastern Conference finals between the Indiana Pacers and New York Knicks, Shaquille O'Neal's time with "Inside the NBA" on TNT came to a close. Advertisement But despite the TNT farewell, it's not the end for the crew. O'Neal, Ernie Johnson, Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith will continue the show on ESPN during the 2025–26 NBA season. Before he was an analyst, Shaq was dominating the NBA, winning four championships during his 19-year career. He even played with some of the all-time greats, such as Kobe Bryant with the Los Angeles Lakers and LeBron James with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Many have claimed that the greatest NBA player of all time debate is between LeBron and Michael Jordan. But O'Neal seems to think otherwise. Sports analyst Shaquille O'Neal looks on during a Butler II-Imagn Images In an interview with Netflix Sports, O'Neal was asked to name the top ten players in NBA history. Surprisingly, he had LeBron listed at No. 3. Advertisement "Number three, I'm going to go with the King, LeBron James," O'Neal said. O'Neal proceeded to list his other former teammate ahead of LeBron. "Number two, I'm going with, rest in peace, Kobe 'Bean' Bryant," O'Neal added. O'Neal played alongside Bryant on the Lakers from 1996 to 2004, helping lead the team to the NBA's most recent three-peat. During that run, O'Neal earned three consecutive Finals MVP awards. He played with LeBron for one season (2009-10). While LeBron holds many of the NBA's records, Bryant won more championships, with five to LeBron's four. However, the current Lakers star surpasses Bryant in MVP awards, holding four compared to Bryant's one. Advertisement O'Neal finished his top ten list putting Jordan at the No. 1 spot. He also included other legends such as Larry Bird and Magic Johnson. O'Neal notably left off Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Shaquille O'Neal Didn't Hesitate When Naming the NBA's Best Player of All Time

Shaquille O'Neal Didn't Hesitate When Naming the NBA's Best Player of All Time originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Before he was an analyst for TNT's "Inside the NBA," Shaquille O'Neal was lighting it up on the court. Advertisement During his 19-year career, O'Neal won four NBA championships, including a three-peat with the Los Angeles Lakers. But his stellar resume doesn't end there, adding an MVP, 15 All-Star and 14 All-NBA selections. Yet not many fans believe O'Neal is in consideration for the NBA's best player of all time. That conversation usually is between Lakers star LeBron James and Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan. In his 22 years, LeBron is top ten in nearly every statistical category, including the record for most career points. He was able to win four NBA championships with the Cavaliers, Heat and Lakers, along with four NBA MVPs. NBA analyst and former player Shaquille O'Neal. Cary Edmondson-Imagn Images Jordan, on the other hand, only played in 15 seasons, yet created arguably the greatest dynasty in league history. In the '90s, Jordan helped the Bulls pull off two separate three-peats, ending his championship count at six. He also beats out LeBron in MVP awards with five. Advertisement But O'Neal seems to think one of these players is better. On Tuesday, he sat down with Netflix Sports and named his top 10 players of all time, ranking Jordan as No. 1. "And number one, the greatest player of all time is Michael Jordan," O'Neal said. Despite the aforementioned GOAT debate, O'Neal seems to think it isn't close. In fact, he has LeBron ranked as the No. 3 best player of all time, with Kobe Bryant at No. 2. O'Neal knows a thing or two about facing both Jordan and LeBron. He went 5–6 against Jordan and 11–6 against LeBron, even playing alongside LeBron during his time with the Cavaliers.
