Can The Falcons Overtake The Buccaneers For The NFC South?
Can The Falcons Overtake The Buccaneers For The NFC South? originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Falcons were two games behind the Buccaneers in the standings event though the Falcons were 2-0 against their division rival. With the youth of the Panthers and the quarterback dilemma of the Saints, the Falcons are the main competition for the Bucs, and it will be an interesting battle in 2025. Advertisement It is very important for the Falcons to not drop certain games, especially against division rivals. The NFC has been dominant and it's the kind of conference that is requiring at least 10-11 win to have a shot at making the playoffs. Feb 25, 2025; Indianapolis, IN, USA; Atlanta Falcons coach Raheem Morris speaks during the NFL Scouting Combine at the Indiana Convention Lee-Imagn Images The team has improved over the last few seasons, and they believe that the team they have now is the one that can get them over the hump. The playoffs have eluded the Falcons since 2017, and with Raheem Morris as coach they hope that the improvement reaches an all-time high. The Bucs have won the NFC South every year since 2021, and even when they were second in the division, they ended up winning the Super Bowl. The Falcons must step up and take that crown from them, and they must utilize all their weapons and step up on defense. Advertisement There are still many questions that the Falcons have not answered yet, those include the statuses of Kirk Cousins and Kyle Pitts. There is still a long way to go until the start of the season. The Falcons are hoping to finally get back to the playoffs, and 2025 is the year to do it. They had a successful draft and a good offseason overall. Dolphins legend comments on Aaron Rodgers signing with Steelers
Dolphins legend comments on Aaron Rodgers signing with Steelers Few know the intricacies of playing the quarterback position better than Dolphins legend Dan Marino. The Hall of Famer joined "The Pomp and Joe Show" on 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh last week to promote the Joe Moore Offensive Line Camp from West Allegheny High School in Pennsylvania. Marino broached a number of subjects, including his thoughts on the Pittsburgh Steelers potentially bringing in quarterback Aaron Rodgers. "If it happens, I still think Aaron has some game. You know he does. He can throw it as good as anybody ever has thrown the football. If his mind's into it and he's ready to go and that works, I don't think it would be an issue with the Steelers. "But, you've got to have someone that really wants to play there and he's getting older. So, I don't know what his mindset is. But, he does still have talent," Marino said. Of course, Rodgers has since signed with the Steelers on a one-year, $13.65 million deal that includes $10 million guaranteed and that could be worth up to $19.5 million. Rodgers passed for 3,897 yards and 28 touchdowns against 11 interceptions last season with the New York Jets, but the Jets finished just 5-12. Now, Pittsburgh is banking on Rodgers elevating the Steelers from the wild card team they were a season ago and into a bonafide Super Bowl contender. The Steelers finished 10-7 during the 2024 regular season to grab second place in the AFC North before falling to the Baltimore Ravens in an AFC wild card game.

49ers need injection of youth on list of best players
49ers need injection of youth on list of best players Last season exposed the depth problems that plagued the San Francisco 49ers roster. This offseason they made some moves they're hoping fix some of those depth problems. However, there has to be more to it for the 49ers when it comes to adding youth to their aging roster. They need to find new stars. Pro Football and Sports Network had left tackle Trent Williams listed as the 49ers' best player. Other options we may have considered instead are running back Christian McCaffrey, tight end George Kittle, defensive end Nick Bosa and linebacker Fred Warner. That's an outstanding group of top-end talent, and they're a key reason the 49ers may be able to bounce back and make a deep playoff run this season after a 6-11 finish in 2024. It's also a group that's quickly getting older where their ability to carry the load as the best players on a championship team will begin to diminish pretty quickly. Williams will be 37 by the time training camp starts. He's the oldest of that group. Bosa is the youngest and he turns 28 this season. Warner turns 29 this season. McCaffrey turned 29 in the offseason. Quarterback Brock Purdy and cornerback Deommodore Lenoir both turn 26 this season. Wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk turns 27. That trio would ideally be headlining a core that has the 49ers contending for Super Bowls three seasons from now. Adding to that top-end group is where the 2024 and 2025 draft classes become essential for the 49ers' future. They need first-round picks like Ricky Pearsall or Mykel Williams to become stars who factor into the "best player" conversation for San Francisco. They would also greatly benefit from a Day 3 pick like CJ West or Malik Mustapha becoming an All-Pro caliber player the way Day 3 picks Kittle and Dre Greenlaw did. This year the current group of "best players" should be good enough to get the 49ers back to Super Bowl contention. If they're going to remain competitive in an expanded Super Bowl window, younger players will need to start taking leaps and establishing themselves as pieces of the team's core.
