Young Walsall railway enthusiast gets birthday treat
A boy with a love of trains has gone behind the scenes at a railway signalling hub as a birthday treat.Zach from Walsall has cystic fibrosis and autism and his family said he developed a fascination for trains and other transport from a very young age, learning to tell what kind of train was passing just from the sound of the engine. He has his own YouTube channel about his railway adventures and Network Rail said it wanted to organise "something special" for him.On Friday he was invited into the cab of a Network Rail train at Birmingham New Street and taken to the signalling hub for the West Midlands.
He met some of the team there and had a go in a train signalling simulator, before having his birthday announced over the New Street public address system.
His mother, Vickie, said she and Zach were very grateful for the opportunity to go behind the scenes. She said although Zach had cystic fibrosis and autism, she tried to teach him "he can do anything he wants to do in his life and can achieve anything".Martin Colmey, operations director for Network Rail Central route, said: "His enthusiasm is wonderful to see and we really hope today has inspired him to consider a career in rail when he's older."

Vienna Würstel, who lives in Majorca, Spain, and is widely known for her huge pout, claimed that strangers call her extreme lips 'ugly', but doesn't plan to stop the filler anytime soon. The influencer began cosmetic procedures at the age of just 18, when she first got lip filler and now, her body has 'more plastic than body fat.' She has had multiple procedures and surgery to achieve her unique look, including a breast augmentation, a lip lift, an eye lift, a BBL, as well as cheek and chin implants. In total Vienna has spent around $160,000 [£119,565] on surgery and $50,000 [£37,365] just for her lips. So dedicated to her plumped-up pout, Vienna jets from Majorca to Frankfurt to get her filler fix, as she explained: "I get lip filler sometimes every week, mostly it's between two and four weeks. 'I want them really big, really extreme. I want to really stand out." But Vienna receives a lot of negative attention over her large lips, as she admitted: "I get a lot of judgement because of my appearance. 'People film directly in my face, people scream at me at how ugly I am. I get a lot of stares." Not only this, but online trolls have urged her to 'sue' her plastic surgeon', called her look 'nasty' and claimed that her surgeon 'should be arrested.' And it's not just judgement that Vienna has to deal with - she also finds breathing a challenge as a result of the size of her pout. I'm so obsessed with filler that my huge lips touch my nose - trolls can't understand what I'm saying, but I don't care She confessed: 'Having big lips totally affects how I talk but also how I drink or eat or breathe. Sometimes it's even hard to breathe.' I have the biggest lips in the world, but I won't stop there and want to go even bigger Vienna Würstel But despite the judgement, Vienna is determined to continue looking exactly how she wants, as she acknowledged: "I will never stop getting plastic surgeries because it makes me the person I want to be." Social media users react YouTube users were left gobsmacked by Vienna's plump pout and many eagerly flocked to the comments to share their thoughts. What are the risks of lip fillers? THE RISKS of dermal fillers depend on whether the procedure was done correctly and the type of filler used. The NHS recommends you speak to your practitioner about the risks beforehand. Serious problems are rare but can include: Infection A lumpy appearance under the skin, which might need to be treated with surgery or medicine The filler moving away from the intended treatment area, which may need to be removed using surgery Scarring Blocked blood vessels in the face, which can cause tissue death and permanent blindness You should see your GP if you have any complications that need medical attention and speak to your practitioner if you're not happy with the results or experience lumpiness. Source: NHS One person asked: 'What kind of beautician and plastic surgeon allows this?? Surely this is almost illegal??' Another added: 'She looks like she had an allergic reaction to something. What physician would allow this?' That looks very uncomfortable YouTube user A third commented: 'She doesn't look human.' Meanwhile, someone else wrote: 'It looks so painful!' Not only this, but another gasped: 'That looks very uncomfortable.' Unlock even more award-winning articles as The Sun launches brand new membership programme - Sun Club

Kate Ferdinand then posted: "Oh Kelsey, I'm so sorry. You've been through so much as a family already, this feels so unfair. "Thinking of you all and sending so much love." Kelsey Parker mum-shamed for admitting she doesn't put suncream on her kids She was referring to the fact that Kelsey lost her childhood sweetheart husband Tom Parker in 2022 aged 33 following a brain tumour diagnosis. Tom was aged just 33 when he died of glioblastoma, a rare and aggressive cancer, just 18 months after diagnosis. She shares two children, five-year-old Aurelia and Bodhi, four, with The Wanted star. The family have remained dedicated to raising funds for brain tumour research in Tom's honour with an annual charity football match in his memory. Married At First Sight expert and podcast host Paul Carrick-Brunson then shared his close bond with Kelsey, and wrote: "Kelsey, I'm heartbroken for you. "Over the last year, I've had the privilege of getting to know your strength, your grace, and the immense love you carry. "This loss is beyond words. I'm holding you and your family in my heart. May you feel surrounded by love as you begin to heal." Giovanna Fletcher then put: "A beautiful name for a beautiful soul. I'm so sorry for your loss Kelsey." Fans were also quick to add their messages of sadness. KELSEY'S JOURNEY Kelsey went public with her new relationship in September last year, saying she knew her late husband Tom would 'send the right man for her.' She excitedly revealed her pregnancy in January before being pictured ring shopping with her tree surgeon boyfriend, 27, earlier this month. Kelsey said in March that she was trying to enjoy every moment of her pregnancy after losing her husband to a brain tumour in 2022 taught her "how precious life is". Speaking to OK! Magazine earlier this year, then-pregnant Kelsey said: "I'm due at the end of June. I'm trying to enjoy this pregnancy more, because I think when you've been through something like I've been through, you realise how precious life is. "I know that sounds clichéd, but it's true." 6 Married At First Sight's Paul C Brunson opened up on his bond with Kelsey Credit: YouTube/@The Diary of a CEO 6 Podcast anchor Giovanna Fletcher sent a sweet message Credit: Shutterstock Editorial

'Cursed' ghost town theme park in the hills lies abandoned with chilling explanation
'Cursed' ghost town theme park in the hills lies abandoned with chilling explanation The once-bustling amusement park is now an eerie bastion of faded splendour It drew visitors from far and wide with its unique attractions A chillingly abandoned "ghost town in the sky", which captivated crowds in its heyday, now lies deserted amid the hills of North Carolina, having succumbed to financial woes over ten years ago. Left to decay under the mercy of the weather, the Old West-inspired amusement park, previously a magnet for movie stars and stunt performers, now languishes as a haunting reminder of former grandeur. Yet, there might be a glimmer of hope for its revival. One particularly daunting rollercoaster rises above desolate saloons at Buck Mountain's summit, at an impressive elevation of 4,650 feet. Local travel outlet Blue Ridge Mountain Life noted that some have dubbed Ghost Town Village as a "cursed amusement park." The concept of the attraction originally came about when the land was purchased from a townsman known as Uncle Dan Carpenter back in 1960. The narrative has it that R.B. Coburn stumbled upon the tale of Carpenter's sheep being lost in a vast cave on Buck Mountain, as reported by The Sun, reports the Mirror US. This Western-themed park quickly became a beloved destination (Image: Youtube ) Coburn, intrigued, sought out Carpenter who then revealed the location where his sheep had gone missing, sparking the vision for the park. Inspired by his experiences in the ghost towns of the Midwest, Coburn envisaged transforming this site into a time capsule for visitors. Article continues below The construction of the park was a Herculean task that saw the concerted effort of more than two hundred locals come together to erect about 40 constructions at the pinnacle of the mountain to comprise the ethereal township. Approximately 120,000 square feet of construction emerged, utilising 91,000 metres of lumber, 60,000 metres of plywood, and a staggering 9,000 kg of nails. The park threw open its gates in 1961, rapidly establishing itself as a premier destination in Western North Carolina and becoming a hub for TV western stars from series like Laramie and Wagon Train to shoot their scenes. Audiences were particularly captivated by the staged gunfights that took place hourly on the main street, with the unique selling point being the rides darting in and out of the mountain's flanks. One rollercoaster was called the Red Devil (Image: Youtube ) However, over time, the attraction began to deteriorate, leading to a decline in visitor numbers, akin to falling off a cliff. The park was further beset by infrastructural woes, including issues with water, power and sewage systems. Workers also started airing their concerns regarding unpaid wages, culminating in the park ceasing operations after the 2009 season. Yet, there is a glimmer of hope on the horizon according to the National Amusement Park Historical Association. Despite being dubbed the "cursed amusement park" by Blue Ridge Mountain Life, owing to numerous failed attempts at revival, salvation may be at hand. On May 9, a post on NAPHA's Facebook page disclosed that an interested party from Florida is considering the purchase of the now-defunct theme park. That very post also indicated that the proprietor, Jill McClure, is keen to sell it for use as an entertainment venue rather than to interests with different intentions. Article continues below However, the site has reportedly been earmarked for a housing development instead. The new owner reportedly intends to revamp the area into "a venue featuring country music, rodeos, and festivals, aiming to keep the park family-friendly."
