From Online Shopping To Booking A Holiday, This Tool Is The Digital Hack I Never Knew I Needed
As someone who spends most of my life on my phone, the sheer volume of potential scams - and how often I nearly fall for them - is slightly alarming. From fake skincare ads on TikTok to those 'missed delivery' texts, it's hard to navigate the internet without the constant fear of clicking on a link that will steal all my (already depleted) savings. Even for a Gen Z who considers herself digitally savvy (humble, I know), it's getting harder to tell what's real. In today's online world, common sense isn't enough. You need smart tech to spot the red flags - that's why McAfee's new Scam Detector is fast becoming the most essential thing in my digital life.
Included with McAfee+ and McAfee Total Protection (at no extra cost, thankfully), Scam Detector does the heavy lifting for you. It spots scam texts, suspicious emails, and AI-generated deepfake videos in real time - so you don't have to second-guess every clickbait clip that lands in your feed. Whether it's filtering risky messages on iPhone, sending instant alerts on Android, or blocking malicious links before they do any damage, it's the kind of behind-the-scenes protection that quietly keeps your peace (and your wallet) intact. For emails, it covers up to ten inboxes and offers clear digestible reasons why a message looks suspicious - so yes, even your tech-phobic grandparent can learn to spot a scammer. And when it comes to deepfake videos? The AI-powered detection system alerts you within seconds, keeping you one step ahead of fake influencers and sketchy 'sponsored' content.
Choose from McAfee's protection plans and start using Scam Detector today.
The best part? Once you've set it up, you don't have to do a thing. No copying, pasting, forwarding, or uploading, Scam Detector works discreetly in the background, highlighting red flags so you can focus on curating your photo dump or binge-watching your latest obsession.
Whether you're a digital native or just trying to stop your mum from forwarding another fake supermarket voucher, McAfee's Scam Detector is the kind of smart tech that fits effortlessly into every lifestyle. Because spotting scams is the new self-care - and protecting your peace (and your phone) is always in fashion.

Fallout 76 maintenance schedule for today's update and when you can start
Fallout 76 maintenance is scheduled for today, with the Season 21: Gone Fission starting after the downtime is over. Here's everything you need to know. The new season of Fallout 76, named 'Gone Fission', is set to go live today, introducing a fresh fishing mechanic and more. Today we welcome Fallout 76 Season 21: Gone Fission, as we say goodbye to Season 20: Glow of the Ghoul. If you've not made the transition from a smooth skin to a ghoul just yet, we've got a guide to get you on your way. Hopefully, you've managed to complete the current season pass in time for the Fallout 76 maintenance, as those hard-earned tickets won't be carried over. There's plenty to anticipate this season, which allows us to make the most of our time in Appalachia with a new hobby. Fishing is coming to the wasteland, although you might not want to grill and serve your catches without having any RadAway at hand. The rewards for Fallout 76 Season 21 are in line with the theme, allowing you to display fish and rods, as well as furniture and items adorned with seaweed. The Cannery is also set to drop after today's Fallout 76 maintenance with the full list of available recipes shared on the game's Discord server. We've included the full list below but feel free to scroll past if you're eager to get straight into the details of when today's Fallout 76 maintenance begins and ends. Naturally, there'll be more to come as the season progresses, but that's the entire list for now. Fallout 76 maintenance schedule Bethesda has confirmed that Fallout 76 maintenance will commence at 7am PDT / 10am EDT / 3pm BST, today, Tuesday June 3. This aligns with previous instances of Fallout 76 maintenance which typically occur on a Tuesday at this time. As for when the servers will be back up and running, we reckon that Fallout 76 maintenance could last roughly three hours, which is pretty standard. So the game might be back online by 10am PDT / 1pm EDT / 6pm BST. There was an exception with the delayed Milepost Zero downtime, which resulted in a prolonged downtime of six hours. However, nothing from the game's social accounts suggests anything similar occurring with today's Fallout 76 maintenance; at least not yet! iPhone users urged to make simple change to settings to 'save battery'
A tech expert is urging iPhone users to adjust a simple setting which they claim could help them save their battery life and make their phone feel like it's 'brand new' A tech expert has revealed that a simple mistake in your iPhone settings could be draining your battery unnecessarily. According to the expert, who shares their knowledge on TikTok as @tycotech. ca, many users neglect to adjust their settings when setting up their phone, leaving background apps to refresh indefinitely. This, they claim, can waste battery life, especially for apps that are rarely used. In a video, they shared: " Apple doesn't want you to know this-because it can save your battery big time! Your battery will last way longer-and your iPhone will feel brand new!" To rectify this, the expert advises: "Go to Settings > Apple Intelligence and Siri - disable all 5 suggestion options." Next, they recommend navigating to Accessibility > Motion and enabling Reduce Motion and Crossfade Transitions. Finally, they suggest going to Settings > General > Background App Refresh, tapping the first option, and turning it off. While some users expressed gratitude for the battery-saving tips, others were skeptical about the approach. One user commented: "Everything else except the motion one." Another user added: "Wow you just helped me a whole lot." A third user offered an alternative perspective: "What really drains your battery? High screen brightness, constant GPS use, poor signal, and heavy apps running in the foreground. If you want better battery life, adjust those things not just background." Another user expressed gratitude, saying: "Incredible information. Thanks a lot for sharing." A different individual cautioned: "Don't do it guys, makes your iPhone less functional." Lastly, someone warned: "Please don't try l nearly spoiled my phone." Apple provides various strategies to help prolong your iPhone's battery life and delay the need for replacement. The company advises: "There are two simple ways you can preserve battery life - no matter how you use your device: adjust your screen brightness and use Wi‐Fi." They recommend: "Dim the screen or turn on Auto-Brightness to extend battery life. "To conserve energy and save battery life, using a Wi‐Fi connection is recommended over mobile data networks. For constant Wi‐Fi availability, ensure it is kept switched on by navigating to Settings > Wi‐Fi." Moreover, it's possible to switch on low power mode on the iPhone at any point of the battery level, not only when it drops below 20 per cent.

Apple users rush to buy iPhone 13 for £265 in cracking deal
The iPhone 13 is still compatible with iOS updates and remains popular amongst Apple fans today. While there are many smartphones on the market, there is a definite divide between those who use Apple products and those who prefer Android. For ease of transferring photos and data from one phone to another when you upgrade, it is unlikely that iPhone users will suddenly make the switch to a different brand. However, for those wanting to have the most up to date Apple device, they will need to be ready to part with a pretty hefty lump of cash in order to afford the smartphone. For those who are happy going with a slightly older model that will work as if it has just been taken out of the box, Wowcher has a cracking deal on the iPhone 13. Normally £449, tech lovers can now snatch it up for only £265 after a 41 per cent discount. The iPhone 13 was launched back in 2021 and is still used by many Apple fans today. With a bright, vibrant display and two cameras on the back, there isn't much that separates this model from newer editions, reports Manchester Evening News. The iPhone 13 was the last smartphone in the range to be released before the 'dynamic island' was introduced, so shoppers may see a slight difference in the multitasking aspect of the device. Additionally, Apple Intelligence is not a feature on this smartphone. However, apart from these slight changes, shoppers will still be able to receive the latest software updates. The 13 model is currently running on the most up to date iOS 18.2 software, which is the same as the newest iPhone 16. Powered by the A15 Bionic, this smartphone still features one of Apple's more reliable processors. The move to the A16 chip was first put into the iPhone 15, which was launched in 2023. Shoppers will also have plenty of space for their favourite apps and beloved photos, as the phone comes with 128GB of storage. It should be noted that this phone is a refurbished device, meaning it has had a previous owner. However, it has been revamped to a high standard by experts, with the only difference shoppers may see would be in terms of cosmetic wear. For shoppers who are wanting one of the newer iPhones on the market, Amazon is selling the iPhone 16e for £599. With 128GB of storage, this device comes with the latest and quickest A18 chip. With a 6.1-inch screen that comes with OLED technology, users will have access to a vibrant and fast working display. Alternatively, for those who are contemplating stepping away from Apple, Argos is selling the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE for £599.99. Equipped with Galaxy AI, this device is said to give 'life-like' visuals as it features a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen. Back to the iPhone 13, it currently had a 4.1 star rating on Amazon. One happy shopper said: "Absolutely amazing, cheapest iPhone 13 I could find, it arrived early and was super simple to set up would definitely recommend this product to others." Another shopper also said: "I don't normally bother writing reviews but I was so impressed with this phone. I was wary about buying a reconditioned phone, having always had phones from new before, but this is brilliant. The phone (iPhone 13) is in perfect condition and works perfectly." However, some shoppers did not receive a refurbished device in optimal condition. One customer said: "Few scratches on the screen and battery life 80 percent, been expecting a bit better condition." While another disappointed reviewer simply wrote: "Really scratched screen. Waste of time." Despite this, another delighted shopper added: "Looks brand new and was easy to set up. I fail to understand why people pay hundreds for new phones when you can get a reconditioned one for such a good price. Very pleased with my purchase."
