An incredible shot on the fourth green from Xander Schauffele. From 287 yards out, he sends a fairway wood to within 15 foot for eagle.
I need to see the replay of this shot – utterly sublime! The American seems to be building momentum here at Oakmont – can he join McIIroy and Spaun at the top of the leaderboard?

McIlroy is gaining momentum
Two straight birdies for the Northern Irishman, who turns 60 feet into seven with his eagle attempt before stroking in moments later to get to two-under. He is looking in fine form during these opening holes at Oakmont.
Meanwhile, his playing partner Justin Rose makes three straight pars and Shane Lowry cuts a frustrated figure after his bogey.

Watch: McIlroy's monster drive
The Northern Irishman hits his longest drive of the season with a 392-yard tee shot at the 12th. He follows up his monster tee shot with a massive approach shot to find the green on his second stroke.
That is unfortunate for McIlroy – as his ball takes a nasty roll down the hill to leave him approximately 52 feet away from the pin.

A regulation four for Bob MacIntyre down the first. His approach shot was slightly into the rough towards the right of the hole – but a good chip to four feet is followed by a solid putt.

Aberg loses early lead
Ludvig Aberg has just offered us the perfect example of what makes Oakmont such a difficult course. The Swede finds the bunker with his third shot on the par-five 12th – he then misjudges his shot from the thick rough and runs his effort 10 feet past.
It was a decent effort with the putter to get away with the six, but he loses the lead with JJ Spaun now back into the sold lead at Oakmont.

Here we go, Rory McIlroy's first birdie of his US Open campaign. He lands this one from 27 feet at the second to move one-under.
The Masters champion is now up and running and moves immediately into the red.

Terrible start for Fleetwood
Tommy Fleetwood's poor start at Oakmont continues on the second. He is forced again to take a penalty drop after another wayward tee shot. The Englishman goes pin-seeking with his third shot, to a hole that is tucked among rough and sand.
His ball lands up 20 feet from the hole and he is too eager with the par putt, knocking it five feet past the hole.

Matt Fitzpatrick is off to a brilliant start at Oakmont. The 2022 winner of this championship, nails a 25-footer across the first green to move immediately into the red.

June 14 - Danny Jansen's two-run homer capped a six-run sixth inning Friday night as the Tampa Bay Rays handed the New York Mets a rare home loss with a 7-5 decision in the opener of a three-game set. Jansen's sixth homer of the year scored Kameron Misner and made a winner of former New York pitcher Eric Orze (1-0), who earned his first MLB win with an inning of scoreless relief. Four other Rays relievers made it through the final four innings, with Pete Fairbanks pitching the ninth for his 13th save in 15 chances. Fairbanks stranded men at the corners, slipping a called third strike by Ronny Mauricio to end it. It was just New York's eighth defeat in 35 games at Citi Field this year and snapped its six-game winning streak. Gleyber Torres, Riley Greene slug Tigers past Reds
June 14 - Riley Greene homered and drove in four runs, Gleyber Torres blasted a pair of solo homers and the host Detroit Tigers rolled past the Cincinnati Reds, 11-5, on Friday. Torres drove in three runs while Javier Baez had three hits, including a homer, scored three runs and drove in two more. Jake Rogers added two hits and drove in two runs. Keider Montero (3-1) gave up two runs in five innings to pick up the win. TJ Friedl and Elly Da La Cruz homered for Cincinnati. De La Cruz and Tyler Stephenson each had three hits and two RBIs. Nick Martinez (4-7) gave up four runs in five innings in the loss. Torres, leading off the bottom of the first, ambushed the first pitch he saw from Martinez, smacking a fastball over the left field wall. Detroit left two runners stranded in the second. Friedl then led off the third by ripping a hanging Montero slider over the right field wall. With two out in the third, Greene crushed a Martinez fastball over the visitors' bullpen in left-center field to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead. The Reds squandered an opportunity in the fourth. Braves blast Rockies thanks to HRs from Michael Harris II, Marcell Ozuna
June 14 - Michael Harris II and Marcell Ozuna both hit late-inning three-run homers to help the Atlanta Braves come back and defeat the visiting Colorado Rockies 12-4 on Friday in the opener of their three-game series. Atlanta has won three of four and Colorado has lost six of its last seven. Atlanta leads the season series 3-1. Atlanta tied the game 4-4 with two outs in the sixth inning when Harris hit a three-run homer, his sixth, into the right field seats off reliever Jake Bird, who had not allowed an earned run in his last 10 outings. It was the third time in six games that Harris has homered. Ozuna gave the Braves the lead in the seventh with two out. His home run, his 11th and first since June 1, against reliever Victor Vodnik (1-2) landed in the front row of the left-field bleachers. He added a sacrifice fly in the eighth. The winning pitcher was Enyel De Los Santos (2-2). Raisel Iglesias and Dylan Lee both pitched a scoreless inning to finish the game. Neither starting pitcher figured in the decision. Atlanta's Bryce Elder pitched 3 1/3 innings and allowed four runs on seven hits, three walks and two strikeouts. Colorado's German Marquez worked five innings and allowed one run on six hits, one walk and seven strikeouts. The Rockies scored two runs in the first inning when Ryan McMahon caught a center-cut changeup and drove it 441 feet to dead center field for a two-run homer.
