Fact Check: Viral video claiming to show passenger live-streaming from Ahmedabad crash is fake
By News Desk Published on June 12, 2025, 15:58 IST A video circulating on social media claiming to be a Facebook Live recording from inside the Air India AI171 flight that crashed in Ahmedabad has been proven to be fake. The clip, shared by multiple users including one account named Honest Cricket Lover, shows a man recording himself on a flight moments before a crash. The video, captioned as being from the June 12 Ahmedabad plane crash, has garnered significant traction online, stirring emotions and panic. However, fact-checkers and independent sources have confirmed that the video is actually from a previous plane crash in Nepal. The clip was part of an incident involving a Yeti Airlines crash in Pokhara, Nepal, in January 2023, in which a passenger had live-streamed the final moments on Facebook before the aircraft went down. An old video from Nepal is being falsely shared as recent plane crash video from Ahmedabad. Proof: — Youturn English (@Youturn_media) June 12, 2025 Youturn English, a credible fact-checking platform, flagged the misinformation and linked the original sources, confirming that the viral video is not connected to the Air India AI171 crash that occurred in Ahmedabad. Social media users are urged to verify content before sharing, especially in sensitive situations involving loss of life or national concern. Authorities have not released any video footage from inside the actual Air India aircraft that crashed. News desk at

22-Year-Old Becomes Sole Caregiver for Grandmother and Brother After Parents Drown in Riptide
After her parents drowned in Florida, a 22-year-old college student is now the sole caregiver for her brother and grandmother Authorities said that a bystander borrowed a boogie board and was able to get her brother to shore, saving his life However, despite "extensive lifesaving measures" authorities were not able to save Peter and Sonia NguyenA 22-year-old college student in Georgia is now the primary caregiver for her brother and grandmother after her parents drowned in a riptide. The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office confirmed that a 57-year-old man and his 54-year-old wife — later identified by authorities as Peter and Sonia Nguyen — drowned near a resort in Destin, Fla., last month. They were both residents of Buford, Ga. 'Beach safety personnel pulled the mother out of the water while Destin Beach Safety and an OCSO Marine Unit located the father," authorities said in a statement. "Intense and extensive lifesaving measures were performed on both but were unsuccessful." 'Witnesses say the couple and their son were spotted struggling in the Gulf about 75 to 100 yards offshore,' officials continued. 'A bystander borrowed a boogie board and went out to try to rescue them. He was able to get the 26-year-old son to shore, and his actions saved the young man's life.' According to the sheriff's office, yellow flags were flying on the beach at the time of the incident, indicating moderate surf or currents. In addition to caring for her family members, who both lived with her parents, Sara is also "responsible for managing the household, covering funeral expenses, and continuing her full-time college education." "Sara's faith is a source of strength during this time," the organizer continued, thanking everybody who chose to support the student "during this time of profound need." As of Thursday, June 12, over $58,000 has been raised for Sara. PEOPLE has reached out to the GoFundMe organizer for additional comment. Read the original article on People

Clip shows fatal shooting in Brazil, not India's Bihar state
"In the era of good governance in Bihar, Pawan Dusadh was shot dead in broad daylight. If this murder took place during the reign of Tejashwi Yadav, every media channel would have said 'lawlessness has returned to Bihar'," reads a Hindi-language Facebook post. The clip, shared with captions raising concerns over public safety in Bihar, shows two people on a motorcycle shooting another person before fleeing the scene. It has been watched over 112,000 times since it was uploaded on May 30. Yadav will lead the state opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) party to challenge the coalition government -- mainly made up of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal (United) party and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) -- in elections in Bihar expected later this year (archived link). Leader of India's largest opposition Congress party Rahul Gandhi has accused Kumar of turning Bihar into the country's "crime capital", while BJP leaders in the state said the RJD was responsible for the increasing crime rate (archived here and here). The footage has circulated with similar claims on Facebook and X. Comments from users suggest they believed the claim to be genuine. "Young people who speak up and raise their voices in Bihar are being murdered in this manner to silence them and spread fear, so that the entire society remains intimidated", reads a comment. Another user wrote, "The common people are not safe at all in Bihar." But the video shows an incident from Brazil, not Bihar. A reverse image search on Google using keyframes found the video was published in a report by Brazilian broadcaster TV Tambau on October 4, 2024 with a headline that reads, "Man is killed on the road while riding a motorcycle in Mandacaru" (archived link). Further keyword searches show Brazilian website O Povo PB published a longer clip on October 8, 2024 showing the same scene from a different angle at the 3:09 mark (archived link). The website identified the victim as 22-year-old Gabriel Junior de Oliveira Medeiros, who was shot dead in the Mandacaru neighbourhood in Joao Pessoa. Images on Google Street View also show that the video was captured along the Avenida Dom Manoel Paiva in the city (archived link). AFP has debunked other false claims related to Yadav here and here.
