Despite posting his worst round of the weekend on Sunday, Jordan Spieth managed to secure a top-10 finish at Muirfield Village. Spieth shot a 74 in the final round, landing in a five-way tie for seventh place at 1-under for the Memorial Tournament.

Scottie Scheffler continued his dominant run, winning the event by four strokes over Ben Griffin and five over Sepp Straka.
But Spieth's final score isn't what everyone is talking about. Instead, attention has turned to his inconsistent and sometimes erratic play, including one moment that could have ended badly for a spectator.
A clip shared by NUCLR Golf on social media shows Spieth turning on a shot during the final round of the Memorial Tournament. The ball veered off and came dangerously close to hitting a fan sitting just inside the roped-off gallery area:
"Jordan Spieth nearly takes out a fan during the final round of the Memorial Tournament."
Reactions flooded in after the video made the rounds:

"Almost had to change the meaning of 'memorial' tournament," one fan quickly mentioned.
Here, a fan mentions it was not his only one: "This was one of three really lucky shots today."
"Not safe anywhere near Spieth," points out a fan.
A question many are asking: "Why would anyone stand in the line of fire…idc if he is a pro everyone hits bad shots."
"Thats way to close for spectators for that thick of rough! They should be back 20-25 ft more, says this commenter.
Lastly, this fan isn't impressed with Spieth's play: "Can't believe he still gets handout exemptions into these events, Charlie woods child be playing."

Spieth, who turns 32 in July, hasn't won a major since the 2017 Open Championship. His quest for a career Grand Slam remains incomplete after falling short at the PGA Championship in May.
His last PGA Tour win came in April 2022 at the RBC Heritage, where he edged out Patrick Cantlay in a playoff. While he's still one of golf's most recognizable names, Spieth hasn't quite regained the form that made him a household name in 2015.
That season, he won five tournaments, including two majors, and earned over $12 million. He also led the PGA Tour in scoring average in 2017 and finished second on the money list.

Big Scottie Scheffler Announcement Turns Heads After Memorial Win

Big Scottie Scheffler Announcement Turns Heads After Memorial Win originally appeared on Athlon Sports. It's nearly impossible to get through a weekend of PGA Tour golf without hearing Scottie Scheffler's name. The 28-year-old continues to be a wizard on the course. Advertisement As he prepares for one of the two majors he needs to complete a career Grand Slam—the U.S. Open, Scheffler also has his sights set on the 2025 season. That season now includes a marquee trip to Farmingdale, New York, where he'll represent the United States in the 2025 Ryder Cup. The event will be held at Bethpage Black during the final weekend of September. On Wednesday morning, the official Ryder Cup USA account tweeted: 'It's official. Scottie Scheffler will lead the U.S. Ryder Cup Team into Bethpage Black.' Golf fans quickly reacted on X: "lets go USA!" a fan tweeted. Another golf fan tweeted, "Never a doubt about that." Advertisement Another tweeted, "In other news, the pope is Catholic." The official PGA Championship tweeted, "Congrats, Champ!" "He already locked up a spot in June lol," a fan tweeted. "No brainer, best golfer leading the US charge of bringing the Cup back to the States. Let's ride," a fan tweeted. 'I will do whatever it takes to help our team reclaim the Cup and cannot wait to play in front of the passionate New York spectators at Bethpage Black.' Advertisement This will be Scheffler's third appearance in the Ryder Cup, and he'll join team captain Keegan Bradley on the U.S. squad. Currently, the other automatic qualifiers, according to rankings, are Xander Schauffele, Bryson DeChambeau, Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa and Russell Henley. Bradley will announce six captain's picks later in the season. Born in Ridgewood, New Jersey, Scheffler will turn 29 later this month. He's held the top spot in the PGA Tour rankings since March 2022. With 16 PGA Tour victories to his name, he's currently preparing for the U.S. Open at Oakmont, where he'll look to capture his fourth major championship. Scheffler's steady dominance and growing legacy could get him both individual accolades and team glory in 2025. 5-Star Oregon Football Target Makes Announcement After Visit With Ducks

5-Star Oregon Football Target Makes Announcement After Visit With Ducks originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Oregon Ducks head coach Dan Lanning is up for a pivotal weekend, as he and his staff are hosting a handful of five-star and blue-chip prospects on official visits. Advertisement One name involved with the Ducks this week is five-star safety Joey O'Brien, who would be a massive get for Lanning and co. According to 247Sports, Oregon ranks No. 29 in the nation with their 2026 recruiting class at this time -- which is subpar to Lanning's standard in Eugene. Landing O'Brien, a Pennsylvania native, would be phenomenal for Lanning's class, especially if Oregon can receive commitments from others on the trip this week. Battling Penn State, Clemson and Notre Dame, Oregon will soon know where O'Brien will pledge his services, as the highly-touted safety has announced when he will make his announcement. Advertisement O'Brien will choose between the four programs on June 20, which isn't long after his visit with Oregon. "Almost that time!" O'Brien shared on X after his commitment date was revealed. Given that the Ducks are getting a great chance to sell the safety on landing in Eugene this close to his commitment, Lanning might be able to secure O'Brien over their new Big Ten rival, Penn State. Still, Penn State's proximity to O'Brien, as a Pennsylvania native, might give them a leg up when it comes to decision day. According to 247Sports, O'Brien is the No. 30-ranked prospect in the 2026 class and the No. 4-ranked safety. Advertisement The Ducks won't get the last word in the blue-chip recruitment, as he will be visiting Notre Dame next weekend to round out his trips before his commitment. Oregon would love to land O'Brien's services and bolster their 2026 recruiting class with another five-star talent, as they could be up for a pivotal few weeks. Cowboys Biggest Camp 'Storyline' An Easy One To Predict

Cowboys Biggest Camp 'Storyline' An Easy One To Predict originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The offseason for the Dallas Cowboys has been dominated by the contract situation of pass-rushing linebacker Micah Parsons. Advertisement While a new deal has been discussed and per reporting maybe valued at more than $40 million APY and thought to last around five years, so far, there have been no substantial developments between Micah and the Cowboys regarding the finalization of an extension. Yes, ideas have been pitched back and forth, but the longer it goes without getting done, the more fans shift nervously and angrily in their seats. Training camp looms as a "real" deadline in negotiations for Micah and Dallas, with Parsons stating that it is crucial for him to have a deal in place by the time he arrives in Oxnard. Given the magnitude of the deal and the player, it is no surprise that CBS Sports has named getting Micah's contract done the biggest training camp storyline. Advertisement "There's a case to be made that Parsons, who just turned 26 years old on May 26, is the best pass rusher in football," CBS Sports writes. "However, a potential training camp holdout could be looming if a deal isn't done before the Cowboys head to Oxnard, California for training camp." Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons (11).Kevin Jairaj-Imagn Images With the contracts of Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb dragging through training camp last offseason, Parsons won't want to suffer a similar fate. So far, Parsons has been in and out of OTAs, and being voluntary, there's nothing wrong with that, although in an ideal world, he would attend. Mandatory mini camp is just around the corner - another "deadline'' on June 10 - and Micah is expected to attend, but in what capacity is unknown. Advertisement Dallas has had a solid offseason in Brian Schottenheimer's first go-around as head coach. The missing piece? A Parsons contract extension to let out all of the unnecessary tension. "Deadlines make deals," owner Jerry Jones once famously said to our Cowboys insider Mike Fisher, and we are quickly approaching the biggest deadline in Parsons' contract talks. Will that finally end this storyline?
