Meghan Markle reveals real reason behind her sweet nickname for Prince Harry

Meghan Markle has revealed the heartwarming reason behind her one-word nickname for Prince Harry, explaining how they kept their relationship a secret by referring to each other in "code" Meghan Markle has opened up on the meaning behind her one-letter nickname for Prince Harry – and it has a heartwarming connection to the beginnings of their relationship. Over the years royal fans have noticed how the Duchess of Sussex has often referred to Prince Harry using a sweet pet name made up of just one letter. Back in 2019, Meghan, 43, first let slip that she referred to her husband simply by the letter 'H' while on an official royal tour of Southern Africa during an interview with ITV. Three years later, the nickname resurfaced during the pair's six-part Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan. ‌ ‌ And now, during an appearance on The Jamie Kern Lima show podcas t, Meghan has revealed the reason she refers to her husband using one initial. 'Your close friends and family, so many of them call you 'M' and Harry 'H'. How did that start? And tell me about that,' asked host Jamie. In response, the Duchess of Sussex explained that its origins are rooted in the early days of her relationship with Prince Harry. Before the pair's romance was made public, Meghan and Prince Harry used 'code' to keep things under wraps, with this extending to how they referred to one another too. 'Probably at the beginning of us dating, when everything was in code. People didn't know we were dating for, talk about memory lane, so long ago. I mean, it'll be our seven-year wedding anniversary soon. I couldn't tell anyone who I was dating, and who was keeping [the secret], so I think we were just on a letter basis,' she said. However, what began as a way of keeping their relationship a secret soon became the norm and 'it stuck'. Now they'll use the nicknames even when they're with friends or on a playdate with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. 'I like it. I love nicknames,' added Meghan. ‌ As well as 'H', Meghan has previously revealed that she has Prince Harry listed on her phone as 'Prince Haz', a name he was known by to the friend who originally set them up. However, Harry has made it clear that the nickname 'Haz' is reserved for Meghan alone, with him once jokingly telling James Corden not to use it. During an appearance on The Late Late Show With James Corden in 2021, James joked: 'Haz? I didn't know we were calling you 'Haz' now.' In response, Harry laughed: 'You're not my wife.' Prince Harry's name itself is even a nickname. When he was born in 1984 he was christened Henry Charles Albert David, though many royal fans have only recently made the discovery. 'PRINCE HARRYS REAL NAME IS HENRY?? wtf,' one person wrote on X. 'PRINCE HARRYS REAL NAME IS H E N R Y?,' said another. Get Royal Family updates straight to your WhatsApp! Meghan welcomes readers to ‘feeling of my home' in first newsletter

The Duchess of Sussex has welcomed readers to the 'feeling of my home' as she shared the first newsletter for her new lifestyle brand. Meghan officially launched her As Ever brand earlier this week just hours after her series With Love, Meghan began on Netflix. Writing in the newsletter, she told readers that 'small yet meaningful moments of connection are where we can all find the magic in the everyday'. 'When I think of the things I look forward to most, I usually find them in the unexpected, in the thoughtful gesture, in the small details that show care,' Meghan said. Products advertised in the newsletter include shortbread cookie mix with flower sprinkles that 'remind me of my time in England', and crepe mix 'inspired by my time visiting France as a student'. 'The single dahlia hand-plucked from your garden and shared with a friend instead of the grandeur of a large bouquet,' the newsletter continued. 'The simplicity of a grilled cheese sandwich cut into small triangles and dunked into tomato soup with your kids. Or one of my favourites – making breakfast for dinner. 'Those small yet meaningful moments of connection are where we can all find the magic in the everyday. 'They say it's the thought that counts,' she writes, 'but I would go a step further – it's the thought that counts the most.' Meghan's updated website revealed her first products were raspberry jam, and the flower sprinkles she repeatedly promotes throughout the show. Her new eight-part series, which sees the former Suits actress give hosting tips and cooking with her celebrity friends, has been savaged by critics. The Duke of Sussex makes just one appearance at the end of the final episode when he joins Meghan, her mother Doria Ragland and friends for an outdoor celebratory brunch. The show is being viewed as a make-or-break moment for the Sussexes, who signed a multimillion-pound deal with Netflix in 2020, with their most successful output being their controversial Harry & Meghan documentary, which features accusations against the royal family. The duchess renamed her lifestyle brand As Ever, switching from the name American Riviera Orchard just weeks before the launch after facing trademarking setbacks, with Netflix now a new partner in her business. As Ever trademark applications include a vast range of products from shower gels, incense, pet shampoo and gardening trowels to cutlery, stationery, diaries, paper party decorations, wrapping paper, ornamental non-precious stones, bird houses, honey stirrers, jams, marmalades and tea sets. Before marrying Harry, Meghan closed down her lifestyle website called The Tig.

Meghan Markle appears to delete and repost backstage footage of new Netflix show

Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, confused fans by posting and deleting behind-the-scenes footage of her new Netflix show on Wednesday (26 February). The 43-year-old divided social media last year when she announced she would be releasing a new cooking show titled With love, Meghan. The programme was due to be released last month, but was postponed due to the California wildfires. Days away from its release on Tuesday (4 March), the backstage scenes featured seemingly candid moments including Markle dancing in the kitchen, and featured an appearance from her husband Prince Harry. The couple's beagle, Guy, who died last year, also shows up. As the clips circulated on X/Twitter, an identical video was then re-uploaded to Markle's Instagram page again without explanation, according to the Daily Mail. 'Six more days until our show launches on @netflix!' read a caption. 'Celebrating the crew and everyone who helped make this happen! The countdown begins'. Comments were switched off for the post. The series will consist of eight 33-minute-long episodes with special appearances from some of the former actor's friends including Mindy Kaling and one of her former Suits co-stars, Abigail Spencer. It marks Markle's second program with Netflix after 2022's Harry & Meghan tell-all royal docuseries, which was watched by over 2.4 million people on its launch day. The Duchess – who runs her yet-to-be-launched lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, which was recently rebranded As Ever – explains that her program is about 'connecting with friends' and making new ones in a trailer for the series. Earlier this year, the royal couple were seen donating supplies and embracing victims of the California wildfires. Living in Montecito, California with their two children they faced evacuation themselves as the area was branded a 'high fire risk'. They visited an evacuation site in Pasadena, California, where the World Central Kitchen operated, to help distribute food and supplies to victims of the Eaton Fire as the blaze raged. Donating essential supplies and serving meals, the pair connected with people affected by the crisis, including families and the elderly. Markle was seen hugging victims as she offered support.
