Sapling plantation was undertaken at many schools across Vidarbha to make it a 'green' and 'environment friendly' reopening day.
In remote Bhamragadh taluka of Gadchiroli district, students were accorded a royal welcome, which included a ride in the traditional bullock cart. In some villages, students took a walking tour down the bylanes with drums in hand, to announce the beginning of a new academic session. Many schools participated in the sapling plantation drive which the state govt had initiated.

A grand welcome was organized for anganwadi children in Nagpur district. Divisional commissioner Vijayalakshmi Bidari and ZP CEO led the campaign of planting moringa (drumsticks) saplings in schools.
The authorities chose drumsticks for plantation citing its health benefits. A statement issued by the district authorities said, "The drumstick tree is extremely beneficial, as its pods and leaves provide essential vitamins when included in the diet.
It not only enhances the taste of meals but also helps reduce malnutrition. Considering this, the women and child development department resolved to plant and nurture two drumstick trees at every anganwadi centre this year."
