Miley Cyrus details ‘traumatic' and ‘excruciating' health scare
Miley Cyrus dealt with a painful health scare while co-hosting 'Miley's New Year's Eve Party' with Dolly Parton to ring in 2023. 'I had a pretty traumatic experience on a show that I was doing with Lorne [Michaels] when I was doing my New Year's show,' the singer said during an appearance on Wednesday's episode of 'The Zane Lowe Show.' 'I had a medical emergency. I had an ovarian cyst rupture. We didn't know exactly what was going on so we did it.' The 'Flowers' hitmaker, 32, added, 'It was pretty traumatic because it was extremely excruciating and I did the show anyway. But it was really, really hard on me.' Cyrus hosted the 2023 NBC New Year's Eve celebration alongside her godmother Parton and co-executive produced the special alongside 'SNL' boss Michaels. Per Johns Hopkins, ovarian cysts can develop for various reasons and most are 'harmless.' Though some can cause more severe symptoms, including lower abdominal pain and bleeding, which would require immediate treatment. Cyrus said the health scare made her consider walking away from the music industry, but she recalled having a discussion with Michaels. 'I had dinner with Lorne and he said something that now has stuck with me,' she said. 'He goes, 'Six months. Everybody has six months to feel sorry for themselves and then we start to rebuild.'' She continued, 'He's like, 'You have no idea how many artists have sat in this chair and told me they were quitting music. Everyone does this, everyone has these traumatic experiences.'' Cyrus has since regrouped and her new album, 'Something Beautiful,' is set for release later this month. During the interview, the Grammy winner also addressed her Reinke's edema vocal cord condition when asked about the possibility of going on tour. 'I have this very large polyp on my vocal cord, which has given me a lot of the tone and the texture that has made me who I am,' the pop star told Lowe. 'But it's extremely difficult to perform with it, because it's like running a marathon with ankle weights.' Miley Cyrus Says She Nearly Quit Music After ‘Excruciating' Health Scare
Miley Cyrus is finally revealing the terrifying health experience that nearly forced her to walk away from music for good. The pop superstar, known for her electric performances and raw honesty, shared that she was hit with a medical scare so intense it made her consider ending her career entirely. While fans may have seen her light up the stage on New Year's Eve, things weren't nearly as glamorous behind the scenes. During a recent interview, Cyrus opened up about the frightening moment that occurred right before her 2023 live NBC New Year's Eve special with Dolly Parton. 'I had a pretty traumatic experience on a show that I was doing with Lorne [Michaels] when I was doing my New Year's show,' the singer said per Page Six on Wednesday's episode of 'The Zane Lowe Show.' The 'Wrecking Ball' hitmaker recalled co-hosting the 'Miley's New Year's Eve Party' despite struggling with pain from a ruptured ovarian cyst. 'I had a medical emergency. I had an ovarian cyst rupture. We didn't know exactly what was going on, so we did it. It was pretty traumatic because it was extremely excruciating and I did the show anyway. But it was really, really hard on me,' she said. Miley Cyrus revealed the health scare was so terrible that it caused her to consider quitting her music career. However, all it took to get her head back in the game was a conversation with film producer and television writer Lorne Michaels. 'I had dinner with Lorne and he said something that now has stuck with me. He goes, 'Six months. Everybody has six months to feel sorry for themselves and then we start to rebuild,'' the 32-year-old shared. Cyrus continued, noting that Michaels said she wasn't the first artist to sit in his chair and tell him they were quitting music. 'Everyone does this, everyone has these traumatic experiences,' she recalled the icon's words. Thankfully, the singer listened and focused on getting back to making good music. Elsewhere in the interview, Cyrus explained the reason for her distinctive low-pitched voice. The singer revealed it was partly due to a growth in her vocal cords. 'So I have this very large polyp on my vocal cord, which has given me a lot of the tone and the texture that has made me who I am, but it's extremely difficult to perform with because it's like running a marathon with ankle weights on,' she said. She continued, 'So even when I'm talking sometimes, at the end of the day I'll call my mom and she'll go, 'Oh, you sound like you're talking through a radio.' And that's how you know I'm really tired because it creates that ultimate vocal fry.' The Grammy Award winner also shared that she had Reinke's edema, a condition that causes swelling of the vocal folds due to fluid buildup. However, even though the condition meant she found it 'extremely difficult' to perform, Cyrus said she didn't want to have surgery for fear of sounding different. Cyrus's chat on 'The Zane Lowe Show' didn't only feature sad details about her health. The singer also recounted how a lie she told her godmother, Dolly Parton, two Christmases ago, motivated the writing of two new songs set to be part of her upcoming album. 'She goes, 'Alright, I see what you're doing. Got any hits?'' she recalled Parton asking her. 'And I'm like, 'I do actually.' She goes, 'Oh really? What's it called?'' Cyrus said. The songwriter then named a new song, 'More to Lose,' which she hadn't even written. Considering she had given Parton a deadline to send the song over, Cyrus said she called her songwriting partner, and they got to work immediately. Thankfully, by early January, Cyrus had written and sent the song to the 79-year-old. After playing the song for Parton, Cyrus said she was forced to tell another lie when the 'Jolene' singer asked, 'Got any more?' 'I was like, 'I do actually, and I think you're really going to like the title.' And meanwhile I'm going, 'What titles do I have in my head?' And I'm like, 'I've got a song called 'Every Girl You've Ever Loved,' and you're going to love that,' Cyrus said. Like the previous time, the 'Flowers' crooner told Parton she was working on it. However, all Cyrus had was the title. Nevertheless, she got to work, and now both songs will be part of her new album, 'Something Beautiful,' set for release on May 30.

Miley Cyrus unwilling to remove 'very large' polyp on vocal cord in case it changes her voice, Entertainment News
Miley Cyrus has a "very large polyp" on her vocal cord but is "not willing" to have it removed in case it changes her voice. The Flowers hitmaker explained the sound of her distinctive low-pitched voice is partly due to both the growth and Reinke's edema — swelling of the vocal folds due to fluid accumulation — and though the conditions mean she finds it "extremely difficult" to perform, she doesn't want to have surgery in case she no longer sounds like herself afterwards. Speaking on Apple Music 1's The Zane Lowe Show, she said: "I had Reinke's edema, which is something that is called, it's abuse of the vocal cords. And being 21 and staying up and drinking and smoking and partying after every show does not help. But also in my case, it does not cause it. So my voice always sounded like this. "It's a part of my unique anatomy, this is what I look like. So I have this very large polyp on my vocal cord, which has given me a lot of the tone and the texture that has made me who I am, but it's extremely difficult to perform with because it's like running a marathon with ankle weights on. So even when I'm talking sometimes, at the end of the day I'll call my mom and she'll go, 'Oh, you sound like you're talking through a radio.' And that's how you know I'm really tired because it creates that ultimate vocal fry... "So my voice is super unique because of it, but I do have this Reinke's edema and I have this large polyp on my cords and I'm not willing to sever it because the chance of waking up from a surgery and not sounding like myself is a probability… so I'm really torn about it." The 32-year-old star also recalled the "pretty traumatic" time she had when she suffered a ruptured ovarian cyst and battled through the pain to continue with her 2023 TV special Miley's New Year's Eve Party alongside her godmother Dolly Parton. She said: "I had a pretty traumatic experience on a show that I was doing with [Lorne Michaels] when I was doing my New Year's show. "I had a medical emergency. I had an ovarian cyst rupture. We didn't know exactly what was going on so we did it. "It was pretty traumatic because it was extremely excruciating and I did the show anyway. But it was really, really hard on me." [[nid:717904]]
