Apple adds these iPhone and iPad models to Vintage and Obsolete list
Apple has updated its list of vintage and obsolete products by adding two iPhone models and two iPads to the list. The company has added iPhone 7 Plus and select iPhone 8 models to the Vintage list. For those unaware, the (PRODUCT) RED iPhone 8 model is already on the vintage list. The 64GB and 256GB models of iPhone 8 have now been added to the list. However, the 128GB model is not included yet, as it was sold for a longer period. As per an Apple support page, 'Products are considered vintage when Apple stopped distributing them for sale more than 5 and less than 7 years ago.'
Apple updates Obsolete product list
The Cupertino-based company has also updated its Obsolete product list. Apple has moved the iPad Air 2 and the iPad mini 2 to the list.
'Products are considered obsolete when Apple stopped distributing them for sale more than 7 years ago,' reads Apple support page. Apple discontinues all hardware service for obsolete products, and service providers cannot order parts for obsolete products. Mac laptops may be eligible for an extended battery-only repair period for up to 10 years from when the product was last distributed for sale, subject to parts availability.
Earlier this year, the iPhone maker added the Apple Watch Series 4 to its public vintage products list. All aluminum and stainless steel 40mm and 44mm models are now considered vintage worldwide. Apple launched the Watch Series 4 in 2018.
