General Hospital star Genie who plays Laura Collinshas taken to social media to pay tribute to her former on-screen adoptive father, as Robinson, known for his role as Rick Webber on the soap opera has passed away. He was 86.
The actor passed away peacefully in his home in Sedona, Arizona, at 12:30 a.m. on June 9, 2025.
Francis took to her profile on X (formerly Twitter) to post a photo from her on-screen wedding in 1981 to Luke Spencer saying, 'I am so sad, he will be missed. @GeneralHospital'
The official General Hospital Instagram page paid tribute to the late actor posting photos of his time on the show with the following caption: 'General Hospital's enduring legacy owes a debt of gratitude to Chris Robinson and his portrayal of Dr. Rick Webber. Our hearts go out to his family and friends as they mourn their loss. May he rest in peace.'
The actor made his professional debut, uncredited, in the 1957 movie The Midnight Story. His big break came nearly a decade later when he joined 12 O'Clock Hour as Technical Sgt. Sandy Komansky, a role he played from 1965 to 1967.
The actor made his daytime television debut on General Hospital as Dr. Rick Webber in 1978. His front-burner romance and love triangle between Dr. Lesley Sullivan and Dr. Monica Quartermaine caused ripples throughout Port Charles and drove story for years. Robinson played the role of Rick Webber off and on with his last appearance in 2013. While on General Hospital, his character became the adoptive father of Laura Webber, of Luke and Laura fame.
In addition to General Hospital, Robinson also portrayed the role of Jack Hamilton on The Bold and the Beautiful. As the father of Taylor Hayes (then played by Hunter Tylo), he was paired romantically with Stephanie Forrester (Susan Flannery). He joined the show in 1992 and last appeared in the soap in 2005.
Robinson's other daytime credit included the role of Jason Frame on Another World from 1988-1989.
He was also known nationally for his Vicks Formula 44 Cough Syrup commercial, where his opening phrase 'I'm not a doctor, but I play one on T.V.' became iconic throughout the entertainment industry.
The actor last appeared in the independent film Just for a Week in 2022, in the lead role of Ted Hurst. He also had a project in production The Foresaken, directed by Justin Kreinbrink.
Robinson is survived by his wife, Jacquie; his six children: Shane, Coby, Christian, Christopher, Chris and Taylor; and five grandchildren Ivy, Ava, Davey, Brooks and Knox.
