Saskatoon 13-year-old pleads guilty for role in fatal 2024 shooting of 12-year-old friend
A 13-year-old Saskatoon boy involved in the fatal shooting of his 12-year-old friend in 2024 has pleaded guilty to criminal negligence causing death. It happened in a house on Matheson Drive on Feb. 19, 2024, when three boys, two 12 and one 13, were drinking vodka and passing around a loaded sawed-off .22 rifle. The gun went off, killing one of the 12-year-olds. The two other boys were charged with manslaughter, but the surviving 12-year-old pleaded guilty to criminal negligence causing death last year and was sentenced to stay in custody for 16 months, followed by eight months of intense supervision in the community and then 12 months probation. The 13-year-old is scheduled to be back in court in July for sentencing. "Nobody wanted this to happen. There was no plan, it was kids making poor decisions, playing with something they shouldn't be playing with and it went off and killed somebody," Blaine Beaven, the boy's lawyer, said Monday in an interview. "Obviously they're playing with a gun, they never should be, children never should be playing with a gun and people who are intoxicated should never be using firearms. And one of them ended up getting shot." An agreed statement of facts was presented at the 12-year-old's sentencing. It said the boys were in a bedroom inside of the house on Matheson Drive. They had bear spray and a sawed-off rifle. All three were posing, taking photographs and videos with the firearm in an effort to appear as though they were gangsters. "As a part of the investigation, officers seized cellphones belonging to [the boys]. [Saskatoon police] analyzed the phone data that was extracted from the cellphones. Upon review of the videos and photographs taken from that night, you see [the boys] had been drinking from a 26 oz bottle of Absolut vodka over a period of approximately three to three-and-a-half hours," it said. "During this time you see [the boys] take turns pointing the firearm and bear spray at one another. [The 13-year-old] is seen unloading and loading ammunition into the firearm."

12-year-old boy gunned down in broad daylight at Southern California park
A masked gunman shot and killed a 12-year-old boy in broad daylight at a park in Compton, authorities said. The gunfire took place just before 4 p.m. on May 9 at a park at the corner of Osiris Street and Oleander Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Deputies responded to a report of a gunshot victim when they encountered the victim, a 12-year-old boy, suffering from gunshot wounds, sheriff's officials said in an written statement. Paramedics provided treatment to the young victim and rushed him to a hospital, but he could not be saved, officials said. "The suspect was described as a male wearing all black clothing, including a black ski mask, who was last seen running northbound on Oleander Avenue and out of view," according to the statement. No further details were available as the investigation remained in its early stages. Anyone with information was urged to contact the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500. Watch: Police pull over driver racing in Florida and discover it's a 12-year-old boy
This is the moment Florida police caught a 12-year-old boy car racing a 17-year-old. The Volusia Sheriff's Office shared body cam footage from the 29 April incident. In the video, a deputy can be seen pulling over two vehicles. 'What was that racing b*******?' the deputy asks the 17-year-old. The officer then tells the 12-year-old driver to get out of the car and places handcuffs on him. Other children in the vehicle ask to call their parents. Both drivers and two 16-year-olds were cited for racing on the highway. Additionally, the 12-year-old was cited for not having a driver's license.

Boy, 12, seriously injured in Devon car park crash
A 12-year-old boy is being treated for serious injuries after a crash in a parking area at Horrabridge in were called at about 17:10 BST on Wednesday to reports a white Ford C Max had collided with a cyclist at New Park, cyclist, a 12-year-old boy from the Horrabridge area, suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital.A 49-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by driving without due care and attention and driving a motor vehicle whilst unfit through drugs. Anyone who witnessed the incident or may have information or dashcam footage is urged to contact the police.

Urgent search for missing Gold Coast boy who vanished without a trace four days ago
An urgent search has been launched for a missing 12-year-old Queensland boy who vanished without a trace four days ago. The boy, pictured, was last seen at a property on Northlink Place, Virginia, about 13km north-east of Brisbane, on May 4 and has not been seen or heard from since. He is described as Caucasian in appearance, approximately 155cm tall with a slim build, light brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a green T shirt, denim shorts and black shoes. He may also be utilising trains to travel to the Gold Coast. Police appeal to the boy or anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to contact police.
