1 2 Lucknow: The River Yoga campaign that involves an innovative approach combining environmental stewardship with personal wellness began at Kudiya Ghat on Monday. The programme will conclude on International Yoga Day , with the objective of strengthening the bond between people and Gomti River . The initiative spearheaded by the 137 Composite Ecological Task Force Battalion (Territorial Army) 39 Gorkha Rifles, joins forces with Nagar Nigam Lucknow, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) and the State Mission for Clean Ganga (SMCG-UP). The activities will encompass all principal ghats along the Gomti. Major Kanwardeep Singh Nagi from the Ecological Task Force said: "This initiative is not just about yoga or cleanliness in isolation it is about creating a culture of ecological mindfulness and collective action. The programme has attracted active participation from NCC/NSS volunteers, students, civil society organisations and community members. The campaign incorporates weekly themes addressing subjects like "plastic-free ghats," "healthy rivers, healthy lives" and "mindfulness by the river." These topics emphasise the essential connection between environmental preservation and individual wellbeing.
