How Tina Knowles and Beyoncé Settle Business Disagreements

Originally appeared on E! Online Nobody wins when the family feuds. And as Tina Knowles revealed, that's precisely why she doesn't give too much push back when it comes to any debates with her daughter over their business. As the Vice Chairwoman of Bey's Cécred haircare line, Tina admitted that she has a simple solution when she and her oldest daughter don't see eye to eye. 'We have disagreements with things but it's her business,' Tina, 71, told host Meghan Markle on the Confessions of a Female Founder podcast June 3. 'I'm just helping. Overall, we get along really, really well. So, if we have a disagreement, it's her business, so she gets to win.' Tina—who also shares Solange Knowles, 38, with ex-husband Mathew Knowles—noted that she's always been the one to keep the peace in her family, and that's what she brings to the boardroom. 'There are difficulties sometimes because when you're dealing with your child or they're dealing with their mother, you have disagreements,' she shared. 'I'm the one that always caves. I've been like that since I was young. So, if my kids are mad at me, I can't take it. So, I'll cave. I'll apologize.' More from E! 'I want to be close to my kids. That's my priority.' The House of Deréon founder revealed that her and Beyoncé's working relationship includes putting their faith in each other to make the right calls. 'I trust her,' the Matriarch author said. 'She's just such a savvy businessperson and she knows so much about hair, and so we trust each other.' In fact, Tina recounted a moment when other board members questioned her desire to open a test salon that doubled as a research space. After others pushed back on the idea, she recalled Beyoncé, 43, telling the room, 'My mom knows what she's doing.' And while she is her oldest daughter's biggest cheerleader, the '16 Carriages' singer has proved to be hers. Last month, during a stop on the Cowboy Carter tour, Beyoncé and her daughters Blue Ivy, 13, and Rumi, 7, shined the spotlight on the matriarch. 'Today is a big day because my mother, who worked so hard on her book, has the No. 1 book on the New York Times bestsellers,' Beyoncé announced at the May 1 show as she stood next to Tina and her two daughters, before she urged the crowd to say, 'Congratulations, Mama T!' Beyoncé's Wardrobe Malfunction Didn't Stop Her From Making History At Grammys

Beyoncé Knowles-Carter made history during Sunday's Grammys, becoming the first Black woman to win the category for Best Country Album. But even history-making moments can have hiccups — in this case, it was an unexpected fashion faux pas. While accepting the award for her genre-defying album 'Cowboy Carter,' Queen Bey seemed to be battling an unwelcome wardrobe malfunction. In a now-viral TikTok video, singer Chauntee Ross was among the first to address Bey's wayward bra underwire. 'Who dressed her?!' Ross exclaimed, referring to the iconic Schiaparelli gown the singer wore that night. 'Who did this to her? Who did this?! That was sabotage.' The comments in the room quickly piled in, echoing an all-too-familiar struggle women know too well: the pain of a rogue underwire. 'We all know what that bra wire stab feels like,' one of Ross' guests remarked. Despite the presumed discomfort, Bey, a true professional, powered through. But, of course, not all of her fans could relate to her resilience. One user commented on the video and said, 'She better than me, I woulda fixed it on national tv 😭 that ishhh hurt!' Another wrote, 'Omg not from both sides at the same time😭😩 The PAIN! 😭😂😩😩' When Bey's name was announced, the artist was noticeably shocked by the honor. Before taking the stage, her husband, Jay-Z, presumably pointed out the wardrobe malfunction. In true Black cultural fashion, the '16 Carriages' singer started her acceptance speech by thanking God. She then expressed deep gratitude for being able to continue doing what she loves 'after so many years.' 'I'd like to thank all of the incredible country artists that accepted this album. We worked so hard on it,' she said. 'I think sometimes genre is a code word to keep us in our place as artists, and I just want to encourage people to do what they're passionate about and to stay persistent.'
