Volusia deputies: Overnight shootings send teen to hospital
Volusia deputies are investigating two late night shootings, one of which sent a 16-year-old to the hospital, authorities said Sunday. The first shooting took place just before midnight Saturday at a house on Kings Ridge Terrace in Deltona, deputies stated. According to a sheriff's office Facebook post, a resident said he was outside his house when he was approached by a subject with a gun. The resident fled into the house and locked the door. The Facebook posts states a second subject reportedly fired at least one shot at the residence from the street before both suspects left the scene. No injuries were reported, deputies stated. The second shooting occurred around 12:30 a.m. Sunday in the 1700 block of North Woodland Boulevard in DeLand, according to the Facebook post. A passing driver reported hearing several gunshots, followed by the shattering of his vehicle's rear window. A 16-year-old passenger in the back seat realized he had been grazed in the head and was transported to the hospital, where he was later listed in stable condition with minor injuries, according to deputies. An initial investigation by deputies indicates that the shot came from two people on foot in a nearby parking lot along North Woodland. The Facebook post goes on to say that deputies are pursuing leads. This article originally appeared on The Daytona Beach News-Journal: Deputies say separate shootings in Deltona, DeLand injure teen
