Injured TSPC sub-zonal commander held from pvt hosp in Varansi
Daltonganj: An injured sub-zonal commander of the
Tritiya Sammelan Prastuti Committee
(TSPC) was traced and arrested from a private nursing home in Varanasi by Palamu police, police said.
The ultra, identified as Gautam (35), was undergoing treatment for bullet injury in the stomach sustained in an encounter with the police at Manatu area of Palamu on May 17, police added.
Additional superintendent of police (operations) Rakesh Singh said, "Acting on inputs, we contacted Varansi police and took him under custody."
Sources said TSPC zonal commander Shashikant had arranged for the injured ultra's transportation from Manatu to Varanasi by road. Gautam was accompanied by his relatives and admitted to the nursing home under a fake name on the intervening night of May 18 and 19. He underwent surgery and is recovering, they added.
Gautam is a Maoist and any help offered to him by anyone is an offence as such help is construed as abetting extremism. The offence comes under the 17 CLA Act, said police.
