Union Depot restaurant changes name, teases new patio and expanded happy hour
Changes are already coming to the 1881 by Lake Elmo Inn, the restaurant that opened in Union Depot last summer.
The team behind the Union Depot restaurant, who also operate Lake Elmo Inn in Lake Elmo, have announced the restaurant has been renamed the 1881 Eating House, and has revealed plans for its new "Plaza Patio."
The new space will be situated on the North Plaza of Union Depot, with the restaurant hoping it'll be a hub for an outdoor bite or sip before St. Paul Saints games or during the weekend farmers markets in Lowertown St. Paul.
'We've been listening to our guests, and this evolution reflects what they want: an inviting space that's more approachable, while still offering an elevated dining experience,' said owner John Schiltz.
Another change coming to the restaurant is an expanded, all-night happy hour, available on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month, the same nights as Station Sounds, a live music series running during the summer.
