Poultry Days announce 2025 festival dates

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A summer festival and staple offered from the village of Versailles will go forward as planned. Versailles Poultry Days will go on as scheduled according to the festival's social media. The post acknowledged the prevalence of Avian Influenza and its hampering of farmer's produce across the world, but specifically in the Miami Valley. With bird flu hitting 1st Ohioan, what are the symptoms and how is it treated? 'We are actively placing our chicken order and have been promised plenty of chicken for this year's festival with 39,400 dinners served last year. Versailles Poultry Days extends our thoughts and prayers to all local farmers and poultry producers as they navigate this challenging time,' the festival said in the post. Versailles Poultry Days is scheduled for June 13 through 15. More information will be posted to the festival website as the event approaches. Send an email to Poultry Days with any general questions. Dog shelter closed through weekend due to animal illness

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A dog shelter in the Miami Valley is closed due to reported illness amongst its population. The Clark County Dog Shelter announced on their social media that their office would be closed through the end of the week due to a 'serious illness in a few of our dogs…' With bird flu hitting 1st Ohioan, what are the symptoms and how is it treated? The shelter has been advised to observe and isolate the population reporting illness. This also means decreasing the number of strays brought in, at least for a few days. 'This does not mean mass euthanasia, as some assume,' the shelter said in the post. The dog shelter hopes to reopen on Tuesday, Feb. 18, if all goes according to plan. If residents spot a stray, the shelter says that posting a picture and location can help. These posts can be shared with the Animals Lost and Found in Springfield and Clark County or your neighborhood groups. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
