Emma Raducanu: I've been burnt by people I really trusted
Emma Raducanu has admitted that she has found it difficult to trust people because she has been 'burnt a few times' since her 2021 US Open victory.
The 22-year-old shot to fame as a teenager by winning as a qualifier at Flushing Meadows without dropping a set. Her career since has been one of fluctuating fortunes, comprising injuries, a carousel of coaches and intense scrutiny.
She has improved this season despite off-court problems: in Dubai she had to contend with a stalker who was subsequently given a restraining order, three years after another man was given a similar punishment for walking 23 miles to her home.
'I'm someone who keeps things to myself and it takes a lot for me to open up,' Raducanu told
