After finding himself in the headlines for the smoking controversy at the 2025 PGA Championship, which he brushed off with "getting old and stressed," the South Korean golfer has now made waves at Quail Hollow for something entirely different. During Friday's second round of the PGA Championship, Kim outdid himself—literally! (Photo by) More Getty Images Just last year, at the 2024 Open Championship, Kim stunned the golf world when he aced the 238-yard par-3 17th hole at Royal Troon, setting the record for the longest hole-in-one in major history. But now, he's shattered his own record, per the Elias Sports Bureau. Playing the 252-yard par-3 6th hole at Quail Hollow, Kim pulled out his 5-wood, struck a perfect fade, and watched his ball bounce, roll, and disappear into the cup. South Korean golfer Si Woo Kim's 252-yard hole-in-one at Quail Hollow is the longest in major championship history. Kim won the Players Championship in 2017, becoming the youngest winner of the event at age 21. 👀 #PGAChamp — CLTure® ( culture ) (@CLTure) May 16, 2025 His reaction was pure joy. As soon as the ball dropped, Kim tossed his club into the air and sprinted off the tee box, screaming in celebration. "Yeah, it's exciting, kind of like imagination. How I'm going to hit it, kept trying imagination. I hit it like, right exactly how I wanted. So it was cool, and then it was pretty memorable hole-in-one in major," he said during the post-tournament conference. Si Woo is Scottie Scheffler's childhood mate, and while he was paired with the record breaker and Jordan Spieth during the first two rounds at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, even the World No. 1 couldn't stop himself from praising him. "He just has really good comedic timing, and he is the best. Si Woo is undefeated," Scheffler stated as Kim chipped in for an eagle at the par-5 18th at TPC Craig Ranch. The event was ultimately won by Scottie Scheffler, but now the pages have flipped. Kim is tied for second at 6-under par after a tough round at Quail Hollow. He is in perfect position to capture his first major title. But Scheffler is right there, just one shot back. But all players are still chasing the unheralded Jhonattan Vegas, who sits at 8-under after making history of his own. More Golf: What Was Justin Thomas Drinking at the 2025 PGA Championship?

Beginning next Thursday through Sunday, Wagner will travel to four golf courses across the United States and Canada where Woods hit notable shots from his 2000 season and attempt to hit the shots himself. Host Rich Lerner and analyst Brandel Chamblee will anchor the live Golf Central segments. Wagner has received critical acclaim for his shot re-enactments during Golf Central Live From weeks, attempting notable or pivotal shots from the history of the event or from that day's play – often times, a shot with a high degree of difficulty and execution – with mixed results. 'It's a tough proposition to try and pull these difficult shots in PGA TOUR and major championship conditions – some might even say it's not a fair fight,' said Wagner, a three-time winner on the PGA TOUR. 'It's going to be a humbling honor to travel to some incredible golf courses and re-enact some of the most memorable shots of Tiger Woods' 2000 season.' Since the 2024 PLAYERS Championship, Golf Central has produced more than 40 segments with Wagner's shot re-enactments, ranging from flop shots buried in brutally thick greenside rough to punch shots off pine straw through the trees and over water. The results of Wagner's shot re-enactments have run the gamut – from his back-to-back toe shank and heel shank at Valhalla following the third round of the 2024 PGA Championship, to his viral moment following the final round of the 2024 U.S. Open at Pinehurst, when he was joined by newly-minted champion Bryson DeChambeau in the front bunker of the 18th green and actually hit his bunker shot within DeChambeau's shot on the 72nd hole. Wagner's shot re-creations have included: TOP SHOTS 2024 U.S. Open – With newly-minted champion Bryson DeChambeau watching, Wagner sticks the long greenside bunker shot inside of DeChambeau's shot to ultimately clinch his championship (result – inside three feet). 2024 Presidents Cup – Woody Austin's shot at Royal Montreal Golf Club in 2008 standing in the lake with the ball partially submerged in water (result – just over green). 2024 Open Championship – Shane Lowry's and Daniel Brown's shots in the coffin bunker next to the 8th green at Royal Troon from the third round of the 2024 Open Championship (results – within 20 feet). 2024 TOUR Championship – Scottie Scheffler's awkward pitch shot on the next to the 6th green, standing in the bunker and gripping the wedge on the steel (result – inside five feet). 2025 PLAYERS Championship – Collin Morikawa's greenside chip buried in thick rough next to the 5th green at TPC Sawgrass (result – inside five feet). 2025 PLAYERS Championship – Wagner beautifully executes chip shots from Rory McIlroy and J.J. Spaun to the left of the 16th green following the final round (results – inside six feet). NOT SO TOP SHOTS 2024 PGA Championship – Back-to-back toe heel shank and heel shank re-enacting shots from Xander Schauffele and Sahith Theegala in deep rough alongside 15th green at Valhalla. 2024 PGA Championship – Wagner experiences the chipping yips on the 4th hole at Valhalla following the opening round. 2024 PLAYERS Championship – Wagner hits tree while attempting Rory McIlroy's escape shot from the pine straw to the right of the 7th hole. Tiger, Augusta National to team up on nine-hole course, training center

April 7 - Tiger Woods will partner with Augusta National Golf Club and The Masters Tournament to bring "affordable golf and educational programming" to Augusta. Fred Ridley, chairman of Augusta National Golf Club and the Masters, provided details of the agreement with the five-time Masters champion on Monday as tournament week kicked off with heavy rain that delayed most of the day's festivities. TGR Foundation, a nonprofit directed by Woods, revealed plans to construct a new TGR Learning Lab in Augusta, Ga., to become the fourth training center opened by Woods. His course architecture firm, TGR Design, will also design the new, nine-hole short course as part of the renovation of the Augusta Municipal Golf Course, commonly known as "The Patch." "Today's announcements mark an important milestone for Augusta and deepen the connection our community has with one of our greatest Masters champions, Tiger Woods," said Ridley. "We are thankful to partner with the TGR Foundation and jointly invest in the Augusta community. This partnership, in the TGR Learning Lab, reflects our shared interest in increasing access to high-quality programming and impacting the next generation in a tangible way. Ridley said the agreement is part of a "commitment to create an affordable and inviting golf experience ... creating opportunities to learn and fall in love with the game as well as developing a pipeline for employment in the golf industry." "Partnering with Augusta National Golf Club to serve its surrounding community is truly special," said Woods. "My passion for education and golf dates back a long time, as does my relationship with Augusta National and the city of Augusta. This is a transformational opportunity to empower the next generation and deliver meaningful educational programming and access to fun and affordable golf. I am excited to work alongside Augusta National and see both projects become a reality." Woods is not playing in The Masters because of his health. It's the first time he has missed a start in the tournament since a car accident wiped out his entire 2022 season. Woods announced on March 11 he had surgery on his ruptured left Achilles tendon. Recovery to complete mobility from the injury can take 6-12 months. With the exception of a tournament with his son, Charlie, and TGL events, the 49-year-old Woods has not played competitive golf since the 2024 Open Championship last July.

Tiger Woods pulls April Fools' prank, says he's playing in Masters

April 1 - Tiger Woods opted to have a bit of fun at the expense of those who lost track of the day on the calendar. For those who temporarily forgot, it's not just Tuesday ... it's also April Fools' Day. "I can't believe I am saying this, but a few weeks after rupturing my left Achilles, the sleeping in a hyperbaric chamber plus the explosive lifts my doctors and trainers have me ready to play the Masters next week!" Woods wrote on his X account. "Can't wait! See y'all on the course." The tweet barely was three minutes old before Woods reminded everyone what day it is. "P.S. April Fools my Achilles is still a mess :)" he wrote. Woods, 49, underwent surgery on March 11 to repair a ruptured left Achilles tendon. The last official tournament Woods played was a missed cut at the 2024 Open Championship last July. The 15-time major champion also played in TGL events this season. Woods has long been plagued by health issues. He underwent his sixth back operation last September and he continues to deal with the effects of a 2021 car accident. --Field Level Media

After Genesis WD, is Tiger Woods going to play before the Masters?

After Genesis WD, is Tiger Woods going to play before the Masters? Tiger Woods was originally in the field at this week's Genesis Invitational, but on Monday he withdrew and in a statement said "I planned to tee it up this week, but I'm just not ready. I did my best to prepare, knowing it's what my Mom would have wanted, but I'm still processing her loss." Woods hasn't played competitively since last July in the 2024 Open Championship at Royal Troon, and now that he has withdrawn from one of his events he always makes an effort to tee it up at, it begs the question of when (and if) he will play before the Masters. There are a couple options, all of them close to home. Considering Woods' success at Bay Hill, there's a chance he tees it up in the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Or he could the next week in the Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass. He has played the Valspar and Cognizant Classic, the two other Florida stops, in the past, though those seem unlikely this year. It's nothing like competitive golf, but Woods' swing looks healthy in his TGL appearances, and it doesn't seem likely he'd go into the Masters without playing at least once. Perhaps Woods will reveal his schedule plans if he makes an appearance this week at Torrey Pines, but until then, it's a guessing game of when the 15-time major champ will play again.
