Social media reactions to UNC basketball loss to Duke
The North Carolina Tar Heels are in a rough spot. Following another loss to Duke on Saturday night, the Tar Heels are still on the wrong side of the bubble and watched their NCAA Tournament chances essentially go down the drain. UNC really needed to beat Duke at home to earn a huge win. Now, they are 1-11 in quad 1 games and have a rough draw in the 2025 ACC Basketball Tournament. Essentially, UNC needs to win the ACC Tournament to get in and it's a spot they have put themselves in. On Saturday, the Tar Heels fought hard and even took a seven-point lead in the second half. But then Duke turned it on and ran away with it late. It was a devastating loss and one that UNC needs to forget about quickly. Here's how social media reacted to the Tar Heels' loss to Duke on Saturday: I know UNC's non-conference slate was brutal. But ultimately, a team that goes 1-11 in quad 1 games doesn't deserve to make the tournament. You gotta finish and win a few of those. Simple as that. — Andrew Forrest (@Andrew_Forrest1) March 9, 2025 An unforgettable experience with a forgettable result. Heartbroken for RJ. — Josh "Fitty" Marlow (@HTB_Josh) March 9, 2025 thank you for everything Rj Davis — TarHeelTyler (@TarHeelMBB) March 9, 2025 We will see that 4 again in the Dean Dome. But it will be hanging with all the other Carolina you young man — Jon Robinson (@jonrob11011965) March 9, 2025 Leading by 7 in the second half to trailing by 15 with less than a minute to go. No doubt Duke is more talented, but after the fight you showed to end the second half, not having any sort of answer for defensive switches is infuriating. Circus shot after circus shot. — Gregory Hall (@gregoryhall_) March 9, 2025 UNC went up 59-53 at the 12:48 mark and scored 10 points the rest of the game — JMann_ (@JMannsTakes) March 9, 2025 Yeaaaaaaa we all kinda knew it but Duke might just be too good for this #UNC team. — Jacob Turner (@JacobTurnerTHI) March 9, 2025 Cooper Flag is just a helluva basketball player. I can't say anything negative about him as a player or a kid. You just have to tip your hat at a talent like that. #GoHeels — Paul Leatherman (@Tarheel_Paul) March 9, 2025 Thought tonight proved that UNC's recent run wasn't some fluke, but the loss is still going to put their tournament hopes in the hands of the selection committee. 1-11 in Quad 1 games. — Taylor Vippolis (@tvippolis) March 9, 2025 UNC played a great game, credit where credit is due — Brian H (@Dukeblogger) March 9, 2025 The improvement UNC has shown is commendable but now we have to make a big run in the ACC Tourney. Tough spot to be in. — Chase Gaddy (@ChasedGod) March 9, 2025 I know people have mixed feeling but I'm excited to see what Hubert can do in the portal with NIL opened up and a GM. Have some really good pieces to build around. Some tuff decisions to make. Biggest ? Do you retain any of Cadeau, Tyson, Washington, Lubin. Think if Seth wants… — Christian🐏 (@MERKE15) March 9, 2025 This article originally appeared on Tar Heels Wire: Social media reacts to UNC basketball losing to Duke again
