Why Kylie Jenner skipped SAG Awards as Timothée Chalamet's mom steps in as his date
After sticking by Timothée Chalamet's side at screenings and award shows around the world this past month, Kylie Jenner bowed out of accompanying him to the 2025 Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday. Chalamet is currently competing in the awards circuit for his role as legendary musician Bob Dylan in James Mangold's biopic, A Complete Unknown. Happily, Chalamet's mother Nicole was able to step in and celebrate with him as he won the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles. While it's not confirmed exactly why the beauty mogul didn't attend the 31st annual awards show, she was likely taking some time to grieve at home following the recent death of her longtime hair stylist, Jesus Guerrero. Guerrero died suddenly at the age of 34, it was announced on Saturday. 'It is with a heavy heart that we let the world know that Jesus Guerrero has gone to heaven. He is a son, a brother, an uncle, an artist, a friend, and so much more,' his younger sister Gris wrote on a GoFundMe page. 'Born and raised in Houston, TX to immigrant parents, Jesus learned how to work hard and dreamt of taking his skills to the top.' Aside from Jenner, Guerrero partnered with several major celebrities over the years including Demi Moore, Jennifer Lopez, Katy Perry, and Dua Lipa. "Unfortunately, his passing came very suddenly and unexpectedly. Currently, his family is taking care of his personal belongings and accommodations to bring him home to Houston,' the statement online continued. Guerrero's cause of death has yet to be revealed. The Independent has contacted Jenner's representatives for comment. The 27-year-old mother of two traveled to the Royal Festival Hall in London with Chalamet, 29, earlier this month for the 2025 British Academy Film Awards. Though the pair, who were first rumored to be dating back in April 2023, did not pose on the carpet together before the ceremony, they were seen sitting side-by-side the entire night. Before that, Jenner attended the Berlin Film Festival screening of A Complete Unknown as the Dune actor's Valentine's Day date. She was also pictured at his table at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards last month.

Conclave: What happens when a Pope dies and how is a new Pontiff selected?
Conclave won Best Film at the 2025 British Academy Film Awards on Sunday for its adaptation of Robert Harris's novel of the aftermath of the Pope's death. The film, which stars Ralph Fiennes as Cardinal Lawrence, also took Best British Film, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Editing at the awards on February 16. Conclave is a fictional story where various factions in the Vatican City try to position themselves for a vote to decide the next Pope and the future of the church. Stanley Tucci, John Lithgow, Sergio Castellitto and Isabella Rossellini also star in the film which, although not based on true events, does show a similar process to reality. Here is how the Pope is selected. The Pope is the worldwide head of the Catholic Church and is a role that a senior cardinal typically takes late in life and continues to their death, although this doesn't always happen as Pope Benedict XVI stepped back after eight years due to ill health. The procedure for what happens when a Pope dies has changed over the years and the guidance was most recently updated in 1996 and then tweaked in 2013 when Francis became Pope. The latest guidance states that the Pope's death must be confirmed by the Chamberlain of the Catholic church in the presence of the Papal Master of Ceremonies and a number of other members of the Papal Household. The Chamberlain then notifies the cardinal vicar for Rome who then tells the people of Rome - with word then going worldwide. 'The Chamberlain seals the Pope's apartments and begins to make arrangements for the burial,' states the guidance. 'It is the Dean's responsibility to inform all the cardinals, the Diplomatic Corps and heads of state.' The Dean in the film Conclave is the role that Cardinal Lawrence (Fiennes) fulfils. After the death, nine days of mourning are declared and the burial usually takes place between the fourth and the sixth day. Popes are usually buried at St Peter's Basilica. An executor may have the task of enacting the Pope's last will - another element that comes up in Conclave. There are 252 cardinals by the most recent count and all of these are summoned to Rome when a Pope dies. The Papal election, called the Conclave, is then held to determine the next Pope and - under a 1975 ruling - all members below the age of 80 will then vote. There cannot be more than 115 cardinals able to vote. Cardinals discuss, very secretly, who they feel would be a good candidate and voting begins in the Vatican's Sistine Chapel - and continues until one has a conclusive vote. The church, states the BBC, talks about cardinals being 'guided by the Holy Spirit' but is also shaped by factions and groupings built to strengthen candidates' positions. A relatively new rule is that after 12 days of voting, a candidate can win with 50 per cent plus one vote. Twice per day, locals are kept updated via the ancient practice of burning ballots. If black smoke appears, then a decision has not been reached, while if it is white smoke then a new Pope has been elected. The new Pope is asked to choose which name he would like to be known as and he will be announced to the world shortly after.

She wore a low-cut (and backless) LBD with a spaghetti strap halter neck, which was embellished with oversized noir sequins. Styled by Mackenzie and Alexandra Grandquist, Jenner's look featured minimal accessories (by billionaire standards). She wore only diamond rings and a few glamorous studs, which matched her glitzy sandals perfectly. The two were perfectly in sync, with Chalamet also dressed in all-black, with diamond details. Breaking his kooky method dressing streak, the actor chose a two-piece, double-breasted suit from Bottega Veneta, which he layered over a simple T-shirt. He added a single element of whimsy, via a double-strand diamond necklace fitted with a pavé panther. The Panthère de Cartier creation costs nearly a quarter of a million dollars, ringing in at $246,000 (plus tax). With jewelry like that, even Kylie Jenner couldn't have upstaged him.
