Legendary Detroit Pistons voice George Blaha to receive Curt Gowdy Media Award
Legendary Detroit Pistons broadcaster George Blaha has been awarded 2025 Curt Gowdy Media Award for electronic media, the team announced Friday evening.
The award is the most-prestigious honor from the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, and it will be presented to him during the Enshrinement Ceremonies taking place in Springfield, Ma. on Sept. 5 and 6.

Blaha, 79, is in his 49th season as the team's play-by-play announcer. Since his initial season in 1979, he's called over 3,700 regular season games and 260 playoff games, including three championships and five Finals.
Longtime CBS analyst Clark Kellogg, veteran women's basketball writer Michelle Smith, and former NBA newsbreaker Adrian Wojnarowski are also recipients of the 2025 Curt Gowdy Media Award, awarded to those who have made a "significant contribution to the game of basketball" through print, electronic or transformative media.
