Taylor Swift's AMA move sends fans wild as they wait for huge announcement
Taylor Swift's fans couldn't wait for her to rock up at the American Music Awards, which were hosted by Jennifer Lopez in Las Vegas, but were left stunned when she swerved the show
Taylor Swift left her fans gobsmacked after deciding to swerve the American Music Awards in Las Vegas last night, despite being nominated for six awards. Many Swifties thought the Bad Blood billionaire was going to make a major announcement about her next album at the show, which was hosted by Jennifer Lopez, but after she failed to attend, they have been left waiting.
Taylor, 35, who didn't win any awards on the night, missed out on star-studded celebration in which fellow artist Billie Eilish, who was also not at the event because she's on tour, won all seven awards that she was nominated for, including artist of the year, album of the year and song of the year.
Host Jennifer opened the show with a high tempo dance number to a medley that included a mashup of songs by Beyoncé, Eilish, Shaboozey, Chappell Roan and more.
Meanwhile, Janet Jackson, received the 2025 Icon award and made her first TV performance in seven years, performing songs including Someone to Call My Lover and All for You.
Taylor's fans thought she may have announced the upcoming release of her album Reputation (Taylor's Version) at the AMAs after theories swirled that she would be making the big reveal on one of the biggest nights in the showbiz calendar.
When the Americana star was hyping up the release of her album Midnights years ago, she did a Midnights Mayhem With Me series to announce all of the song titles.
The second and the sixth videos in the May'hem series both featured upside down phones. This led fans to think something would happen on May 26. Taylor also discounted some items on her website to 26% off recently, adding more fuel to the 26th theory.
Last week, the singer and boyfriend, Travis Kelce, were spotted on a low-key date in Florida after It Ends With Us star Justin Baldoni dropped the subpoena, which required the pop star to appear as a witness in his legal battle against Blake Lively.
Taylor, who is friends with actress Blake, was officially subpoenaed to appear as a witness in the legal battle with Justin after the actor filed against a lawsuit against Blake after she sued him claiming sexual harassment and an alleged retaliatory public smear campaign to "destroy" her reputation.
Taylor was delivered a legal notice by Justin's lawyer Bryan Freedman - a decision which had been slammed by her team as a tactic to create clickbait.
Now, Justin is no longer calling on the singer to appear as a witness. Mr Freedman had claimed Blake had called on "her high-profile friends" including Taylor to "manipulate Justin at every turn."
Taylor licensed her hit song My Tears Ricochet to be used in the film but was not involved in the making of It Ends With Us, her reps told People magazine.
They slammed the subpoena, claiming it was "designed to use Taylor Swift's name to draw public interest by creating tabloid clickbait instead of focusing on the facts of the case."
