Skyrac Athletic Club's athletes shine at Yorkshire Championships
LOCAL athletics club, Skyrac's under-20 athletes delivered a string of outstanding performances at the 2025 Yorkshire Track and Field Championships, held at the Dorothy Hyman Sports Centre in Barnsley.
The club's rising stars made their mark across a range of events, showcasing both talent and determination.
In the distance events, Joe Reed impressed with a gritty run in the 3000 metres, battling through a competitive field to claim a well-earned silver medal.
The field events saw Alice Typer dominate with a remarkable all-round display of throwing prowess. She struck gold in the discus, added silver in the shot put, and secured bronze in the hammer throw, achieving season's bests in all three disciplines.
Middle-distance standout Rafferty Mirfin stole the spotlight on the track. Known primarily for his 800m speed, Mirfin stepped up to the 1500m and delivered a commanding performance, taking gold with a season's best time of 4:01.02. He then returned to his signature event, the 800m, and completed a memorable double with another gold medal.
The Championships proved to be a standout weekend for Skyrac AC's U20 squad. With multiple podium finishes and a host of personal bests, the team continues to build momentum and excitement for the rest of the season.
