Bahrain Table Tennis Team Secures Spot in 2026 World Championship
Al Khobar: Bahrain's senior national table tennis team has qualified for the 2026 World Championship in London by winning the West Asia qualifiers. The team achieved this milestone after a narrow 3-2 victory over Saudi Arabia in the final match held in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the match began with Rashid Sanad securing an early lead for Bahrain by defeating Saudi Arabia's Khalid Al Sharif 3-1. The momentum shifted slightly as Mohammed Abdulwahab lost 2-3 to Ali Al Khadrawi, and Sayed Murtada Hussain was defeated 1-3 by Abdulaziz Al Shalibi.
Rashid Sanad once again turned the tide in Bahrain's favor with a 3-2 win over Ali Al Khadrawi. The decisive moment came when Mohammed Abbas clinched the victory for Bahrain by defeating Khalid Al Sharif with a 3-0 scoreline.
Prior to the final, Bahrain reached the last stage of the qualifiers by overcoming Qatar in a closely contested 3-2 match, just two hours before the final showdown. In the preliminary round, Bahrain topped Group B, finishing ahead of Iraq and Oman.
