Texas man headed to prison in death of Fort Myers bar patron 2022

A Texas man will serve at least 25 years in prison for a 2022 late-night murder outside a Fort Myers restaurant. The State Attorney's Office, 20th Judicial Circuit released a news release Tuesday saying Hector Edgardo Perdomo, 27, of Lewisville, Texas, was convicted and sentenced on three counts: murder, attempted murder and aggravated assault with a firearm. A judge sentenced him to 40 years on the most serious charge, of which he must serve at least 25 years. Perdomo shot and killed Uriel Aragon on Nov. 13 in the parking lot of the El Patron Mexican Restaurant and Bar, 3639 Palm Beach Blvd., the State Attorney's Office said. Perdomo also shot a second victim, whose name is redacted in court documents. A witness told police he was at the bar with five friends, including Arvea, and they began to leave minutes before closing. A friend of the witness told him Perdomo shoved one of the other friends, then all headed out the door, according to Perdomo's arrests affidavit. Perdomo told the friend to wait, then walked out the door holding a gun. The witness said Perdomo pointed the gun at his friend and asked 'Do you want me to kill you?' or said, 'I am going to kill you.' The friend also told police that Perdomo said, pointing a gun at his chest, saying 'Do you want to die Ese?' before repeating, 'Do you want to die? Do you want to die?' The witness said he got between the two and said 'Calm down. What is wrong with you?' Perdomo shot the friend and then shot Aragon as Aragon turned toward him, the affidavit indicates. Perdomo then fled. Officials found him in Slidell, Louisiana, a month after the incident. He was sentenced as follows: Count I: Second Degree Murder with a Firearm: 40 years in prison with a 25-year minimum/mandatory Count II: Attempted Second Degree Murder: 30 years in prison with a 20-year minimum/mandatory Count III: Aggravated Assault with a Firearm: 5 years in prison All of the counts will run concurrently. The defendant shot and killed a man in the parking lot of a Mexican restaurant and bar on November 13, 2022. A second person was shot and survived. The Fort Myers Police Department handled the investigation. The defendant was located in Slidell, Louisiana and taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service. Assistant State Attorney Sara Miller, of the State Attorney's Office Homicide Unit, and Assistant State Attorney Ryan Pomponio prosecuted the case.
