Police in Temiskaming Shores say reports of a bike theft from a local school on the afternoon of June 2 led to the arrest of a shoplifting suspect later the same day.
Ontario Provincial Police responded to the bicycle theft around 1:45 p.m.
'The investigation led officers to review security camera footage and were able to identify a suspect,' police said in a news release Thursday.
'On the same day at approximately 5:15 p.m., OPP responded to a report of a shoplifting incident at a business in Temiskaming Shores involving the same individual.'
Police arrested the 20-year-old suspect, recovered the bike and seized a replica weapon.
Charges for the Temiskaming Shores resident include violating probation, possession of an imitation weapon and two counts of theft under $5,000.
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Haileybury on June 24.
