King unveils and test-drives interceptor boat of his own design for maritime defence

According to a post on His Majesty's official Facebook page, the design and specifications of the boat were the result of Sultan Ibrahim's inspiration and expertise, gained from extensive knowledge in marine science and various military training experiences. The boat, specifically designed as a high-speed interceptor vessel, is capable of operating in tropical waters,' the post read. Sultan Ibrahim also presented a high-tech interceptor boat to the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) in Pahang last March. According to the post, in November 2020, His Majesty had also gifted a fully-equipped IMG speedboat with a 900-horsepower engine to the Marine Police Force (PPM) in Region 2, for use in island and maritime operations around Mersing. His Majesty also presented a Tornado Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) to the 21st Special Service Group (21 GGK) in 2021. 'The RM1.2 million boat, equipped with a 600-horsepower engine, was gifted to assist the 21 GGK in carrying out their missions and duties. King test drives his own-designed interceptor craft in Mersing
KUALA LUMPUR: His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, visited Mersing, Johor, to test-drive a newly designed interceptor craft personally conceived by him. Istana Negara, on His Majesty's Facebook post, said that the design and specifications of the craft were the result of his inspiration and expertise, which stem from his extensive knowledge of maritime affairs and military training. "In March, His Majesty gifted a high-tech interceptor boat, named the Ibrahim Class IC 1170cc, to the Royal Malaysian Navy. "The boat, specially designed as a high-speed interceptor, is capable of operating in tropical waters. "Sultan Ibrahim also presented a high-tech interceptor boat to the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency in Pahang during the same month," the post said. It also said that in November 2020, Sultan Ibrahim graciously consented to present a fully equipped IMG speedboat to the Marine Police in Region 2, complete with a 900-horsepower engine for operations around the islands and waters of Mersing. In 2021, he demonstrated his commitment to maritime security by gifting a Tornado Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) to the 21st Special Forces Group (21 GGK). "The RM1.2 million vessel, powered by a 600-horsepower engine, was specifically designed to assist the 21 GGK in carrying out their duties and responsibilities. "His Majesty's generous contributions reflect his deep concern for the nation's maritime security and the readiness of enforcement agencies in countering threats at sea," the statement said.
