Bahrain Dominates Arab Cross-Country Championship with 7 Medals

TDT | Manama Bahrain's men's and women's national teams dominated the 27th Arab Cross-Country Championship on February 15 in Jordan. With impressive performances, the team secured the top spot in both the individual and team categories for men and women. Golden Glory for Bahrain's Men's Team The men's national team, including Abdulghani Mohammed Ahmed, Abraham Cheroben, Albert Rop, Owek Ayalew, Hassan Chani, and John Kebet, clinched the team gold medal with a commanding 17 points. Morocco came in second with 19 points, while Jordan (62 points) and Kuwait (83 points) finished third and fourth, respectively. In the individual race, Albert Rop claimed victory, securing the gold with a time of 29:26 minutes. His teammate, Abdulghani Mohammed, earned the bronze with 29:49 minutes, while Morocco's Mostafa Akouai took the silver at 29:40 minutes. Bahrain's Women's Team Takes the Crown Led by Olympic champion Winfred Yavi, the women's team, including Bontu Edao, Tigist Gashaw, Chitei Ashet, Viola Cheptoo, and Marta Hirbatu, delivered a stellar performance, winning the team gold with only 10 points. Morocco finished second with 33 points, followed by Jordan (55 points) and Saudi Arabia (80 points). In the individual race, Winfred Yavi crossed the finish line first, taking gold with a time of 33:20 minutes. Tigist Gashaw followed in second, securing the silver with 33:52 minutes, while Chitei Ashet completed the podium sweep with bronze at 34:00 minutes. With a total of 7 medals—4 golds, 1 silver, and 2 bronzes—Bahrain confirmed its dominance at the 27th Arab Cross-Country Championship, solidifying its reputation as a regional powerhouse.
