SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — Parts of 29th Street in Sioux City will be closed for several months as crews begin a multi-year reconstruction project. The first phase of the 29th Street Reconstruction Project is expected to run from March 31, 2025 through Nov. 2025, according to the City of Sioux City Engineering Division. Hawarden nonprofit created to help rebuild community after flooding Stage 1A will involve the closure of 29th Street from Cheyenne Boulevard to Iowa Street from March 31 through September. Meanwhile, from July through November, 29th Street from Jones Street to Jennings Street, as well as Jones and Jennings Streets from Bryant School south to 29th Street, will close as part of Stage 1B. Additionally, Jones and Jennings Streets from Bryant School south to 29th Street will be reconstructed along with the water main lining along Jennings Street. Two different detour routes will be posted during the first phase of the 29th Street Reconstruction Project. The project was awarded Bainbridge Construction, LLC back in Jan. 2025.
