Hinton's Doeschot, West Lyon's Meyer take home final SportsZone Basketball Player of the Week honors of the season
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) – Hinton guard Sydney Doeschot and West Lyon guard Jorden Meyer turned in exceptional performances, helping guide their respective teams one step closer to the state tournament.
Hinton guard Sydney Doeschot dropped 32 points in the Blackhawks' 76-21 win over IKM-Manning in the IGHSAU Class 2A-Region 2 semifinals, helping Hinton boost its record to 22-0.
'We're confident, but we have to stay humble during it. So obviously, just continue that confidence and just focus every practice for sure. And you've got to maintain focus and just really lock in and trust in each other,' Doeschot said.
Jorden Meyer of West Lyon poured in 21 points in the Wildcats' 78-47 defeat of MVAOCOU to send the Wildcats to the Class 2A-Substate 2 semifinals last week.
'We're just playing together really well. Everything we've been doing in practice has been coming together on the court and we're just having fun. We just find a way to play together and we just have fun. It all works out,' Meyer mentioned.
A spot in the state tournament is on the line for both teams.
It's win and in for Doeschot and the Blackhawks, they will take on Westwood tonight at Bishop Heelan in the 2A-Region 3 Championship game.
For the Wildcats, Meyer and company will play Manson-NW Webster on Saturday at Buena Vista University in the 2A-2 title game.
