Triple M's Beau Ryan and Aaron Woods take a hit in radio ratings

Triple M's rebooted Sydney breakfast show shed 1.5 per cent market share in the latest radio survey, a result bound to worry bosses at Southern Cross Austereo (SCA). The Beau Ryan and Aaron 'Woodsy' Woods hosted show dropped to a 4.4 market share, well down from a previous 5.9 in Sydney. The loss reflected Triple M's decline across the week in all timeslots in Sydney in survey three of the year. The station was down 1.5 on the previous survey. Conversely SCA's sister station 2DAY lifted at breakfast by 0.5. The result has put some welcome wind in the sails of that program's new-in-2025 hosts Jimmy Smith, Emma Chow and Nath Roye who achieved a 3.9 share (up from 3.4), a hopeful sign for the youthful trio. 2DAY finished up 0.2 overall with a 4.5 share – trailing Triple M's 4.9 share by a margin of 0.4. KIIS FM, the home of the Kyle & Jackie O breakfast show, again dropped market share in Sydney (-0.2) in the latest survey – a result that could confirm fears parent company ARN's focus on capturing Melbourne may ultimately be at the expense of the duo's home town. It comes after KIIS shed 0.4 per cent of share in the previous survey. KIIS finished third in Sydney in the latest radio survey, behind 2GB (up 0.8 to 13.6) and Smooth (up 0.6 to 12.4), with a 9.3 share overall. Despite this concerning overall trend, Kyle & Jackie O show was again the number one FM radio breakfast show in Sydney with a share of 12.5 (up 0.2). It was a vastly different story for the duo however in Melbourne with the Kyle & Jackie O show shedding the gains made in the previous survey, one artificially boosted by the $5 million Dawn Dig cash giveaway. Australia's highest paid radio stars finished down 0.7 in Melbourne with a 5.1 market share. The result saw them drop a place from seventh back to eighth most popular radio show in the southern capital. ABC Sydney continued its downward slide in Sydney with all four programs across the day losing audience and finishing the survey with a 6.2 share (down 0.1). Craig Reucassel slipped at breakfast (-0.1 to an 8.2 share), Hamish Macdonald in mornings (-0.8 to 5.5), James Valentine in afternoons (-0.6 to 4.7) and Chris Bath (-1.2 to 5.3). Only evenings host Renee Krosch lifted across the week, improving her share by 2.4 to 8.4. 2GB made gains on the ABC's losses. Breakfast host Ben Fordham was up 1.1 to 16.7, mornings host Mark Levy held onto his 15.5 share from previous survey, afternoon host Malcolm McLaren lifted to 10.6 (+ 0.6), while Clinton Maynard finished on 8.6 (+ 0.4). In Melbourne the ABC rallied after recording a record-low result in the previous survey. ABC Melbourne achieved a 6.2 share, up 1.9, the station's breakfast duo of Bob Murphy and Sharnelle Vella lifting by an impressive 2.0 points to topple Kyle and Jackie O in the breakfast slot by 2.5 points with their 7.6 share.

Triple M radio suffers brutal fail in latest ratings survey - as one show continues to bleed listeners

Triple M suffered a brutal blow in the third radio ratings survey of 2025. Beau Ryan, Aaron 'Woodsy' Woods and Cat Lynch can't seem to keep their listeners engaged this year, as their Sydney breakfast show continues to lose listeners. The trio, who lost 1.5 per cent of the market share in survey two, dropped another 1.5 in the latest survey, bringing them down to a 4.4 market share from a previous 5.9. It was one of many hits Triple M took this week, as the station suffered a decline across all Sydney timeslots. Meanwhile, sister station 2DAY gained 0.5 per cent of the breakfast market share, leaving new hosts Jimmy Smith, Emma Chow and Nath Roye chuffed. The station finished at 4.5 overall - up by 0.2 - as it gains ground on Triple M's overall 4.9 market share. Elsewhere, KIIS FM took a short slide in the Sydney ratings as the station has spent several months trying to improve The Kyle & Jackie O Show's standing in Melbourne. The home of shock jocks Kyle Sandilands and Jackie 'O' Henderson dropped 0.2 per cent of the market share after shedding another 0.4 in the last survey. However, KIIS FM still finished third in Sydney with a 9.3 overall, not a feat to balk at, with 2GB sitting at 13.6 (up by 0.8) and Smooth sitting at 12.4 (up by 0.6). And the wildly popular Kyle & Jackie O Show was again number one in FM breakfast in Sydney with a market share of 12.5 (up by 0.2). Though their performance in Melbourne has swindled yet again as they dropped by 0.7 to a 5.1 market share, following the artificial gains they made last survey. Meanwhile, ABC Sydney as continued to slide with all four of its programs throughout the day losing listeners, dropping the station to a 6.2 share. Craig Reucassel also slipped at breakfast to 8.2, Hamish Macdonald in mornings dropped to 5.5, James Valentine in afternoons down to 4.7, and Chris Bath now at 5.3. Elsewhere, KIIS FM took a short slide in the Sydney ratings as the station has spent several months trying to improve The Kyle & Jackie O Show's standing in Melbourne Evenings host Renee Krosch was the only star who saw an increase in market share, lifting by 2.4 to 8.4. 2GB took full advantage of ABC's Sydney losses, with breakfast host Ben Fordham shooting up 1.1 to 16.7. Mornings host Mark Levy held onto his 15.5 share, afternoon host Malcolm McLaren lifted to 10.6, and Clinton Maynard finished on 8.6 (up by 0.4). Nevertheless, ABC shot up in Melbourne after the station had a fire lit under them following a record-low result last survey. With an overall 6.2 share (up by 1.9), breakfast duo Bob Murphy and Sharnelle Vella gained an impressive 2.0 per cent. It lifted the pair to a 7.6 per cent share, toppling The Kyle & Jackie O Show in the breakfast slot by 2.5.
