Retribution will come if Kamala Harris discusses Joe Biden's cognitive decline, according to journalist Mark Halperin.
Allies of Joe Biden will leak unflattering, 'Palinesque' stories about Kamala Harris' tenure as vice president if she discusses his cognitive decline, according to a journalist. Mark Halperin, a veteran political reporter who founded the digital news network 2WAY, broke the news during the Friday episode of his show The Morning Meeting. 'I will tell you, and this has never been reported, barely at all,' he began. 'If the Biden people decide that Kamala is coming after Joe Biden, wait till you hear the Palinesque stories about how much they tried to help her be prepared to be vice president and be in a position to run. And how much they decided, 'Not happening. She's not up to this.''

Biden allies prepared to unload ‘Palinesque' stories about Kamala Harris if she discusses his cognitive decline: report
Joe Biden's allies are prepared to 'escalate' and reveal unflattering stories about Kamala Harris should the former vice president decide to talk about the former president's cognitive decline, according to a veteran political journalist. The stories about Harris' tenure as Biden's No. 2 are 'Palinesque,' 2WAY's Mark Halperin said Friday, a reference to former Alaska governor and Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin. 'I will tell you, and this has never been reported, barely at all: if the Biden people decide that Kamala is coming after Joe Biden, wait till you hear the 'Palinesque' stories about how much they tried to help her be prepared to be vice president and be in a position to run. And how much they decided, 'Not happening. She's not up to this,'' Halperin said on 'The Morning Meeting' show. 3 Earlier this week, Harris announced that she would not be running for governor in California. X/Kamala Harris In the aftermath of late Sen. John McCain's (R-Ariz.) loss to former President Barack Obama in the 2008 presidential election, leaks from campaign staffers suggested that Palin, McCain's running mate, was woefully unprepared for the job. In one infamous report, campaign staffers claimed that Palin did not know Africa was a continent and that she could not name the three countries that formed the North American Free Trade Agreement – the United States, Canada and Mexico. 'If the Biden people feel threatened, you will hear stories about Kamala Harris as vice president that will not make her look good,' Halperin said. 'So there's a closeness to the couples,' he added. 'It's not like they're at war currently, but I'm telling you, if Joe Biden feels threatened, if his people feel threatened by her, this is gonna escalate in a big way.' Halperin argued that Harris would have a 'hard time defending against the stories if that dam bursts.' Journalists Alex Thompson and Jake Tapper detail some of the frustrations Biden loyalists had with the VP in their recent book, 'Original Sin.' In the book, Harris was described as a 'regular headache' for the White House, according to Biden people. 'She often shied away from politically tough assignments when Biden had accepted such assignments as vice president,' the authors write. 'She even turned down seemingly simple asks, such as headlining DC's Gridiron Club dinner.' 'Many on the Biden team felt that Harris didn't put in the work and was also just not a very nice person,' according to the book. 'Several quietly expressed buyer's remorse: They should have picked [Michigan Gov. Gretchen] Whitmer' as Biden's running mate in 2020. 3 Biden's cognitive decline and use of autopen in the White House is being scrutinized by Republicans. REUTERS 3 Halperin said the stories Biden's team has about Harris are 'Palinesque.' 2WAY/YouTube Halperin argued that Biden's people 'were extraordinary in trying to help her do the job of vice president.' 'They gave her every opportunity. And they did — they found in some instances that she had some issues.' The House Oversight Committee has brought in several former top Biden White House aides to testify on the former president's mental decline and his staff's use of autopen to sign official documents. It's unclear if the GOP-led committee plans to ask or subpoena Harris for testimony.

Meghan McCain ‘Thrilled' to Partner With Past Punching Bag
Meghan McCain spent years attacking political journalist Mark Halperin over multiple allegations of sexual misconduct. Now, she says she's eager to work with him. Halperin announced on Sunday that he had hired McCain, journalist Michael Moynihan, and a Free Press audio producer for his media startup 2WAY. McCain has repeatedly—and publicly—referenced an accusation that Halperin pressed his erect penis against a woman's shoulder. Halperin has denied the allegation, though he admitted to inappropriately pursuing relationships with women at work. Nevertheless, MSNBC dropped him, and Showtime replaced him on its political documentary series The Circus. In a statement to The Independent, McCain said she had 'grown and evolved' since making the remarks and was excited to partner with Halperin, who co-authored the 2010 book Game Change that partially detailed her father, John McCain's, presidential campaign. 'Like Mark, at this point in my life I believe in giving people the presumption of grace and forgiveness as I would like it in return,' she said. 'I have had the fortune and misfortune of having every single thing I've ever done since I was 22 well-documented on the Internet and thrown back in my face by people like you.' 'I am also thrilled to be joining such an innovative platform like 2WAY with such open-minded and respectful people in a time of extreme censorship and partisan politics,' she continued. A 2WAY representative did not respond to an immediate request for comment. McCain's twice-weekly show launches next week, she said on X, and will air at 5 p.m. 'I couldn't be more excited to be officially joining the team,' she wrote on X. McCain's past contempt for Halperin found forums both online and on The View, where McCain was previously a co-host. After learning that CNN host Michael Smerconish was set to interview Halperin on his radio show in 2019, McCain took to Twitter to bash him: 'Did he put his genitalia on anyone's shoulder while he was there?' She repeated the claim during a March 2020 episode of The View, lumping Halperin in with a number of other NBC News personalities to claim that bad actors were more plentiful at NBC than at her previous employer, Fox News. 'Mark Halperin put his, allegedly, erect penis on a woman's shoulder, and he was fired,' McCain said, referencing an alleged 2004 incident during Halperin's time as ABC News' political director. 'Yeah, look it up.' Co-host Whoopi Goldberg then read a disclaimer noting that Halperin had denied the allegation, prompting McCain to double down: 'I said 'allegedly' … he was allegedly accused of that disgusting act.' She also expressed her frustration in the Daily Beast, where she wrote in 2012 that Halperin and Game Change co-writer John Heilemann relied on stories from 'disgruntled staffers' who had 'more likely than not' not witnessed the events they wrote about. 'I have no problem if the people actually there wanted to retell their stories,' McCain wrote. 'I do, however, have a problem with reporters who were not present and have an obvious bias capitalizing on things that more than likely never happened.' Halperin seemed unbothered by McCain's past critiques when he announced her hiring, telling Semafor the series of hires was 'just the start.' 'Throughout 2025, 2WAY will bring on other exciting content creators and organizational partners to expand our content verticals, our distribution channels, and the reach of 2WAY,' he said.

Meghan McCain is ‘excited' to be working for Mark Halperin — a political pundit she once trashed
Conservative pundit Meghan McCain announced over the weekend that she 'couldn't be more excited' to join 2way, the media startup run by political journalist Mark Halperin — whom McCain previously derided after he was hit by sexual harassment allegations. Besides taking issue with the sexual misconduct claims in the past, McCain has also criticized her new boss for Game Change, the best-selling book Halperin co-authored with John Heilemann that chronicled the 2008 election and prominently featured her late father and GOP presidential nominee John McCain. 'With age comes wisdom and different perspectives on people. I am now a 40 year old mother of two. I have grown and evolved like everyone else, particularly in the past five years — Mark has also grown and evolved,' McCain said in a statement to The Independent. 'Like Mark, at this point in my life I believe in giving people the presumption of grace and forgiveness as I would like it in return. I have had the fortune and misfortune of having every single thing I've ever done since I was 22 well documented on the internet and thrown back in my face by people like you.' She added: 'I am also thrilled to be joining such an innovative platform like 2way with such open minded and respectful people in a time of extreme censorship and partisan politics.' Having 'scraped his way back' to prominence following a #MeToo exile that saw him lose cushy gigs with NBC News and Showtime in 2017 following more than a dozen allegations of sexual harassment and assault, Halperin revealed this weekend that he was bringing McCain and journalist Michael Moynihan to 2way. The new hires, which will expand the platform's 'growing roster of ongoing bipartisan conversations,' come after 2Way recently raised $4 million of seed money and brought on former Free Press audio and video chief Alex Chitty to handle the company's strategy and operations. 'Throughout 2025, 2WAY will bring on other exciting content creators and organizational partners to expand our content verticals, our distribution channels, and the reach of 2WAY,' Halperin told Semafor. McCain, who has made several appearances on 2way in recent months, declared her excitement on Sunday over the opportunity to work for Halperin going forward. 'I couldn't be more excited to be officially joining the team @2waytvapp & @MarkHalperin — my new show launches next week and will be live twice a week at 5pm for the 'happy hour'!' McCain tweeted. 'Live audience interaction in the spirit of @2waytvapp!' It was just a few years ago, though, when the former host of The View didn't have such a rosy opinion of Halperin. For instance, after radio host Michael Smerconish — one of Halperin's media pals — announced that Halperin would be on his program in August 2019, McCain fired back with a snarky post. 'Did he put his genitalia on anyone's shoulder while he was there?' McCain wrote, referencing an allegation that Halperin pressed his penis against a woman's shoulder during the 2004 election cycle when he served as ABC News political director. Several months later, McCain once again referenced the alleged incident while talking on The View about longtime MSNBC host Chris Matthews' sudden departure amid resurfaced claims of sexism and harassment. During the segment, McCain argued that sexual harassment at NBC News was 'way worse' than at Fox News, which has seen a number of prominent hosts and executives leave in shame amid sexual misconduct accusations and settlements. 'Mark Halperin put his, allegedly, erect penis on a woman's shoulder, and he was fired,' McCain exclaimed during the March 2020 broadcast. 'Yeah, look it up.' After co-host Whoopi Goldberg read a legal disclaimer noting that Halperin has denied making unwanted physical contact with female colleagues, McCain added: 'I said allegedly… he was allegedly accused of that disgusting act.' When the allegations first came out against Halperin in the fall of 2017, the veteran reporter issued a lengthy apology in which he said he was 'part of the problem' of men harming women in the workplace during his time at ABC News, adding that he acknowledged and 'deeply' regretted his actions. At the same time, though, he stated that 'some of the allegations that have been made against me are not true.' 'Toward the end of my time at ABC News, I recognized I had a problem,' Halperin continued. 'No one had sued me, no one had filed a human resources complaint against me, no colleague had confronted me. But I didn't need a call from HR to know that I was a selfish, immature person, who was behaving in a manner that had to stop.' McCain hasn't just slammed Halperin for allegedly being a sex pest. When HBO made Game Change into a miniseries in 2011 starring Ed Harris as her father, she sounded off about the 'problem' she had with the production and Halperin's book. In an op-ed for The Daily Beast, McCain stated that she was upset that Halperin, who she described as a 'man I had only heard of in name and was not an embed on the campaign,' had the temerity to reach out to her shortly after the 2008 election to ask 'what really happened' during the campaign. 'Reporters aren't generally known for their sensitivity and tact, but I can remember thinking, nice timing sir,' she wrote. She also dismissed the book as being based on the recollections of 'disgruntled staffers' who rehashed 'stories they had not directly witnessed themselves' before taking another swipe at Halperin and Heilemann. 'I have no problem if the people actually there wanted to retell their stories,' McCain stated. 'I do, however, have a problem with reporters who were not present and have an obvious bias capitalizing on things that more than likely never happened.' Halperin did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
