While not quite as challenging as yesterday's Wordle, this is still a pretty tricky word. I got off to a mediocre start with CHAIR, leaving me with just one yellow box and 285 words remaining. SLOPE only cut that down to 41, though thankfully DEIGN slashed that to just two. I could only think of one: EDIFY for the win! Today's Wordle Bot I thought surely the Wordle Bot would take four today but it beat me with three. That means I get -1 for losing to the Bot which turns into -2 due to 2XP Friday. The Bot gets 1 point for guessing in three and another for beating me, which ends up being 4 points for 2XP Friday. The narrow game we've been playing this month widens considerably with June tallies now at: Erik: 0 points Wordle Bot: 6 points The verb edify comes from Latin aedificāre 'to build' (itself from aedes 'building' or 'temple' + facere 'to make'). In Late Latin it became edificāre; Old French borrowed it as edifier, and it entered Middle English as edify with the sense 'to instruct' or 'build up (morally or spiritually).' Today's ‘Wordle' #1406 Hints, Clues And Answer For Friday, April 25th
How to solve today's Wordle. Looking for Thursday's Wordle hints, clues and answer? You can find them here: It's Friday and that means two things: First, the work week is almost over! Huzzah! Second, it's 2XP Friday for all you Competitive Wordle players out there. Double your points (or your losses) to get a boost over the competition. It's Wordle time! The Hint: When you have information about something. The Clue: This Wordle is a past participle. Okay, spoilers below! Today's Wordle Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here. Whenever a Wordle is a past participle of another word, it's a bit trickier to solve. By and large, I'd say that nouns tend to be easier than other types of words. I started off okay with CHOIR, leaving me with 110 remaining solutions and just one green box. Unfortunately, SLATE only slashed that number to 13. WOODY finally got me down to just one: KNOWN for the win. If I'd known then what I know now, I would have gotten a better score! Today's Wordle Bot Feels like kind of a waste of 2XP Friday. Since the Bot and I both got it in four, we each get 0 points. Our April tallies remain: Erik: 11 points Wordle Bot: 15 points Known comes from Old English cnāwan ('to know'), from Proto-Germanic knewaną, and earlier from Proto-Indo-European ǵneh₃- ('to know, perceive'). The 'k' was once pronounced but became silent in Middle English. Let me know how you fared with your Wordle today on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook. Today's ‘Wordle' #1399 Hints, Clues And Answer For Friday, April 18th
How to solve today's Wordle. Looking for Thursday's Wordle hints, clues and answer? You can find them here: It's the last of the 1300 Wordles today. Tomorrow is Wordle #1400. A whole new era. It's also 2XP Friday today, so those of you playing Competitive Wordle against friends or family, or against your humble narrator or the Wordle Bot, should double your points, both good and bad. I've been taking a beating from the Bot this month, which is only fair after the trouncing I gave to it last month. Let's do this! The Hint: A morbid tune. The Clue: This Wordle ends with a vowel. Okay, spoilers below! FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder . . . Today's Wordle Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here. I use DRAIN from time to time as my opening salvo, and today I got lucky. Very lucky! Only four words remained, and I already had three boxes, though two of these were in yellow. DIRTY was the second-luckiest second guess I could have chosen, slashing my options down to just one: DIRGE for the win! Huzzah! Today's Wordle Bot I get 1 point for guessing in three and another point for beating the Bot. That's 2 x 2 for 2XP Friday for a total of 4 points. The Bot gets 0 for guessing in four and -1 for losing to me. Double that is -2 points. This narrows our April total to just: Erik: 9 points Wordle Bot: 10 points As you can see, the Bot is still in the lead, but only just barely. And there's still almost two weeks left. This could go either way! I do love a close game . . . . The word dirge comes from the Latin dirige, meaning 'direct' or 'guide.' It originates from the opening word of the Latin antiphon Dirige, Domine, Deus meus, in conspectu tuo viam meam ('Direct, O Lord, my God, my way in thy sight'), used in the Office for the Dead in medieval Christian liturgy. Over time, dirge came to mean a funeral song or lament. Let me know how you fared with your Wordle today on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook. Today's ‘Wordle' #1392 Hints, Clues And Answer For Friday, April 11th
How to solve today's Wordle. Looking for Thursday's Wordle hints, clues and answer? You can find them here: It's 2XP Friday, ladies and gentlemen, which means if you play Competitive Wordle against a friend or the Wordle Bot, or against your humble narrator, you get to double your points, even if that means doubling your losses. Let's see how we all do and solve this Wordle! The Hint: One of Cupid's tools. The Clue: This Wordle has a double letter. Okay, spoilers below! . . . Today's Wordle Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here. STARE was a decent opening guess, leaving me with two yellow boxes and just 83 possible solutions. I think I've been playing too much D&D lately because the first word I came up with in my attempt to rearrange the 'AR' was ARMOR and I just went with it. I wish I'd thought of ARROW! I was just talking about bow and arrow stuff with my kids! Oh well, ARMOR is (oddly enough) the same exact word that the Wordle Bot came up with (maybe it's been playing too much D&D also). Today's Wordle Bot I get 1 point for guessing in three and 0 for tying the Bot. The Bot gets the same. We both double our 1 and walk away with 2 points for 2XP Friday, bringing our April totals to: Erik: 2 points Wordle Bot: 6 points The word "arrow" comes from the Old English word earh or ārwe, which meant the same thing—'projectile shot from a bow.' It likely has Proto-Germanic roots, such as arhwō, and is related to Old Norse ör, Gothic arhwazna, and Old High German araw. The exact Proto-Indo-European origin is uncertain, but it may be connected to a root meaning "to bend" or "to shoot." Over time, the word evolved in English from ārwe to arrow through Middle English spellings like arwe and arewe. Let me know how you fared with your Wordle today on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook. Today's ‘Wordle' #1378 Hints, Clues And Answer For Friday, March 28th
How to solve today's Wordle. Looking for Thursday's Wordle hints, clues and answer? You can find them here: It's a marvelous day for a Wordle, but then again—isn't any day? It's even better today because it's Friday, and Friday is 2XP Friday for competitive Wordle players. Double your points, good or bad, and see how they stack up with the competition. Let's solve this Wordle! The Hint: Poetry. The Clue: This Wordle has a double letter. Okay, spoilers below! GRAIN ended up being a pain in my side today, leaving me with 271 possible solutions. SPORE slashed that number to just four, but even that's too many to necessarily get it in three. Alas, TERSE was so close. The Wordle was VERSE, oh what a curse! This one left me feeling much worse! Today's Wordle Bot I get 0 for guessing in four and -1 for losing to the Bot. That's -2 due to 2XP Friday. The Bot gets 1 point for guessing in three and another for beating me. That's 2x2 for a total of 4 points today, narrowing my lead significantly as we approach the end of March. This brings the monthly tally to . . . Erik: 21 points. Wordle Bot: 12 points. I still have a significant—some might say 'insurmountable'—lead. We shall see. The word verse comes from the Latin versus, meaning "a line or row, especially in writing," which in turn comes from vertere, meaning "to turn." Originally, it referred to the turning of the plow at the end of a row, and by metaphor, to lines of writing or poetry.
