One dead, several injured as severe weather hits Washington County, Kentucky
At least one person died and multiple people sustained injuries after severe weather swept through
Kentucky
on Friday, authorities told ABC News. The county's sheriff's office confirmed the death and multiple injuries in a Facebook post at 9:48 a.m. EDT, about two hours after the twister struck the area located about 50 miles southwest of Lexington.
"Please be respectful during this time. Prayers are needed for this family and our county," the sheriff's office also said.

The National Weather Service is set to assess the damage today. According to NOAA's records, this marks the 63rd tornado-related fatality in the U.S. in 2025—and the 20th in Kentucky alone.
'This tornado developed within a supercell thunderstorm that formed ahead of a low-pressure system moving through Kentucky this morning,' explained Chris Dolce, senior digital meteorologist at 'While the severe weather threat has passed for central Kentucky, areas in the mid-Atlantic, Carolinas, and Georgia may still experience damaging winds, hail, and a continued risk of isolated tornadoes through the rest of the day.'
