Egypt announces June 26, July 3 public holidays

CAIRO – 19 June 2025: Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly issued a decree on Wednesday declaring Thursday, June 26, 2025, an official paid holiday in observance of the Islamic New Year. This replaces the Gregorian date corresponding to the first of Muharram, 1447 AH, in accordance with the relevant legal provisions.
The holiday applies to employees in ministries, government agencies, public authorities, local administration units, public sector companies, and public business sector companies. Examinations will proceed as scheduled by the competent authorities.
Also, the prime minister declared Thursday, July 3, 2025, an official paid holiday in celebration of the June 30 Revolution anniversary, instead of Monday, June 30, 2025. The holiday is applicable to the same categories of employees mentioned above. Examinations will continue as planned, based on the schedule set by the concerned authorities.
