‘Nobody Wants This' Star Jackie Tohn Reveals Season 2 Filming Start Date: 'Feels Like We Haven't Stopped'

With Season 1 of a hit show under her belt, Jackie Tohn is still catching her breath before jumping into Season 2 next month. The Nobody Wants This actress revealed that Season 2 of the Netflix romantic-comedy begins filming on March 3 as she teased Deadline at Friday's 30th Critics' Choice Awards about the 'really exciting' followup to their nominated first season. 'I haven't read anything yet, but I've got into the writers' room, we've talked about my character arc, and that's all really exciting. I love her, I love it. So, stay tuned, it's gonna be really exciting.' In the Erin Foster-created show, Tohn plays Esther Roklov, a well-to-do Jewish wife who ices out her brother-in-law Noah's (Adam Brody) new girlfriend Joanne (Kristen Bell), who is a gentile, remaining loyal to his ex (Emily Arlook), who is also Esther's best friend. Meanwhile, Esther's husband Sasha (Timothy Simons) strikes up a flirtation with Joanne's sister Morgan (Justine Lupe). 'But we start March 3,' noted Tohn. 'I don't know what date it is, but I feel like that's soon. So, it's been a whirlwind. It sort of feels like we haven't stopped since Season 1, because we came out and then we were doing press. Then we were sort of thrust right into awards season, which was sort of insane that we were even included in that conversation. And now, we're starting Season 2 already. It's sort of just going, it's awesome.' Jackie Tohn reveals that 'Nobody Wants This' begins filming Season 2 on March 3rd #CriticsChoice — Deadline (@DEADLINE) February 8, 2025 The series follows the unexpected relationship that blossoms between a young rabbi (Brody) and a sex and dating podcaster (Bell). It's inspired by Foster's relationship with husband Simon Tikhman. With Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan onboard as new showrunners, Foster previously told Deadline her hopes for Season 2, 'I would say that the goal for Season 2 is that if you watched Season 1 and 2 together, you wouldn't feel a big difference. It should feel like a continuation of the same dynamics, the same feel, the same cadence.' 'Really, my goal is to be able to have as many seasons as possible, because this is my livelihood, so if I can go slow, then we just keep working on it and not jump ahead,' she added. 'All the big, romantic moments that you want to feel in that first year of a relationship, we want the audience to be able to feel. I know now what hooked people and what sunk in and what stood out, so the goal is to give people that and not make some weird artistic choice and rob them of the joy they want to feel.' At Friday's awards show, Nobody Wants This star Brody won Best Actor in a Comedy Series, while co-star Bell was nominated for Best Actress and the show was also up for Best Comedy Series.
