United Way of Wayne County to host annual stamp out hunger food drive
GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WNCT) — United Way of Wayne County will be hosting their 33rd Annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive with the National Association of Letter Carriers on Saturday, May 10, 2025.
The goal for this campaign is to refill the shelves of local food pantries. The food collected will then be distributed to several Wayne County organizations including The Community Soup Kitchen of Goldsboro, HGDC Community Crisis Center, The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, AKA Sorority CHIP Program, Hydrant Church, and 4 Day Movement.
For 2025, the goal is to collect 15,000 pounds of food. Households that are in the 27530, 27531, 27532, 27533, and 27534 zip codes will receive a postcard reminder and a designated plastic bag to fill with non-perishable food items. Residents can leave the bag of donations next to their mailbox on May 10 so a letter carrier can pick it up during mail delivery.
Donations can also be dropped off in bins located in the Berkeley Station Post Office and the William Street Post Office lobbies before the food drive. It is requested that the items donated are unexpired, nonperishable food items, canned goods, and boxed or bagged shelf-stable foods.
Volunteers are needed on May 10 to assist with loading and unloading donations andshould be able to lift at least 5 lbs. with no mobility restrictions. Those interested may sign up here.
