Weapons, drugs found in sleepy driver's possession: OPP

Items that police say they seized in their investigation of a driver who was found asleep at the wheel in Orillia, Ont. A woman is facing multiple charges after police in Orillia say they woke her up while she was sleeping at the wheel and found that she was possessing weapons and illicit drugs. According to Orillia OPP, officers responded to reports of a slumped-over driver Wednesday morning at around 9 a.m. on Jarvis Street in Orillia. When the officers arrived, police say they found the lone female driver in the driver's seat with the engine still running. Based on their conversation with the driver, police say the officers were prompted to begin an impaired driving investigation, eventually arresting her for allegedly driving while impaired by drugs and failing a sobriety test. Police add that as part of their investigation, they also seized a replica firearm, a switchblade knife, 32.6 grams of methamphetamines, 7.4 grams of Percocet's and Four grams of Psilocybin. The driver, identified as a 34-year-old from Lindsay, Ont., was transported back to the Orillia OPP detachment after her arrest for further testing by a drug recognition expert. She was eventually charged with seven offences. Her charges included operation while impaired by alcohol and drugs, possession of a prohibited weapon at an authorized place, possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of opioids, possession of a Schedule III substance, operating a vehicle with an open container of liquor, and operating a vehicle with cannabis readily available. She was released with conditions and is scheduled for a future court appearance to answer to her charges. Her driver's licence was suspended for 90 days and her vehicle was impounded for seven days.

GERMANTOWN, Wis. (WFRV) – A 34-year-old man in Wisconsin was found dead in the driver's seat of a vehicle on Saturday morning. The Germantown Police Department reported that dispatchers received a call around 7:18 a.m. on Saturday for a vehicle crash with one person in the driver's seat, appearing to be dead.
