Hoover Police responded to reports of a shooting involving two employees at the Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux on Tattersall Park Drive a little after 1:40 p.m. local time on Saturday, June 14, per ABC affiliate WBMA.
Upon arriving at the scene, police found a pregnant female victim who had sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Police said the woman was transported to a local hospital, and while she is expected to survive, her unborn child did not, according to the outlet.

Lt. Daniel Lowe of the Hoover Police Department told that the suspect has been identified as a 36-year-old male. He also said that while an investigation into the incident is still ongoing, 'preliminary accounts indicate reckless behavior with a firearm was involved on the part of the suspect.'
Lowe told that investigators are currently working with the Shelby County District Attorney's Office and expect formal charges to be filed on Monday, June 16.
PEOPLE reached out to Hoover Police on Sunday, June 15, for comment but did not receive an immediate response.
The suspect — whose identity will not be released until he is formally charged — is currently being held in the Hoover City Jail, per CBS affiliate WIAT.
