Two Brits busted for cannabis smuggling within hours of each at same airport

Two Brits have been arrested for smuggling large amounts of cannabis in separate incidents at the same airport, within hours of each other. One, a woman, was arrested this weekend at Kotoka Airport in Ghana yesterday after allegedly attempting to take 17.72kg of cannabis onboard a British Airways flight to Gatwick. Thirty two slabs of the drug was reportedly discovered in a suitcase. Photos show the drug packets in the case alongside a single toothbrush. The woman has been moved to the Narcotics Control Commission headquarters in Accra for further investigation, reports 3 News. Just hours before, another British national was arrested at the same airport, also for smuggling cannabis. He had arrived on a Emirates flight from Thailand, via Dubai. Authorities said they discovered 92 slabs of cannabis, weighing 53.6kg, in two suitcases. Further investigations led to the arrest of two suspected accomplices, a customs officer and a porter from the airport's Commercially Important Person (CIP) section. All three suspects are in custody. Authorities believe they may be part of a broader international drug trafficking network. The 18-year-old was arrested in Tbilisi, Georgia, charged with illegally buying, possessing and importing a large quantity of drugs. Police say they found sealed packages of hash and cannabis in her suitcase after she flew from Thailand to the former Soviet country. TV star reveals how a shocking incident while doing an everyday exercise at the gym convinced him to lose an incredible 50kg with one step

Decorated New Zealand sports commentator Hamish McKay has revealed how a confronting incident at the gym convinced him to lose 50kg via bariatric surgery. McKay, 59, was left mortified and in no doubt he had to make some huge lifestyle changes after his stomach 'popped out between his abdominals when doing a bench press.' Highly embarrassed, the former sports presenter and rugby editor for 3 News spoke to his wife and then decided to make drastic changes. After his weight ballooned to a concerning 135kg, McKay shed 15kg to prepare for his cosmetic surgery - and now weighs a much healthier 84kg. As a result, McKay 'feels like he has born in 1985' and has a new lease on life. 'You couldn't be the lump of lard that I halfway up a staircase to make sure nobody was watching while you gathered your breath,' he told Stuff. New Zealand sports commentator Hamish McKay has revealed how a confronting incident at the gym saw him decide to lose 50kg via bariatric surgery (pictured, pre-procedure) Looking back, McKay can see he was 'comfort eating' - and now the real estate agent (right) cherishes every day, with an emphasis on fitness and a healthy lifestyle 'I don't take anything now and I was on all sorts of pills. Now I feel like I've got 15 to 20 years of a good working life. 'You (also) don't get in to have that operation unless you prove you've got the discipline to lose that weight in the first place.' McKay also knew he had to make drastic life changes after his wife took an unflattering photo of him asleep on the couch at home. It was far from flattering - and McKay was honest enough to admit he was battling physically. He had onset diabetes type two, high blood pressure and dangerous levels of cholesterol. 'I was death warmed up,' McKay admitted when reflecting on the dark days of his life. 'I'm so bloody lucky I'm here to tell the story.' Looking back, McKay can see he was 'comfort eating' after his decades-long TV career came to an end in 2016 - and now the real estate agent cherishes every day.

Mental Health Workforce Crisis Exposed – Urgent Action Needed Now

Press Release – PSA The draft report said 1,485 more frontline mental health and addiction workers were needed right now, including 470 specialist nurses, 145 psychiatrists and 145 clinical psychologists. The Government must take urgent action on the acute shortage of mental health workers after revelations of the scale of problem. The PSA is demanding the Government: 1. Immediately fill all vacancies 2. Lift the hiring ban across the country 3. Reinstate police support for all mental health call outs 3 News has obtained a draft report showing the scale of the workforce crisis, but the official report to the Minister for Mental Health Matt Doocey removed the numbers. The draft report said 1,485 more frontline mental health and addiction workers were needed right now, including 470 specialist nurses, 145 psychiatrists and 145 clinical psychologists. 'This is stark evidence of the Government failing to get on top off the workforce crisis and the public will be rightly shocked at the scale of the problem exposed by the media,' said Fleur Fitzsimons, National Secretary for the Public Service Association for Te Pūkenga Here Tikanga Mahi. 'This not news to us. The PSA has been well aware of the scale of the problem for a long time. That's why we have been repeatedly demanding that Health NZ Te Whatu Ora accelerate recruitment, but these numbers show that it's not solving the problem fast enough.' The PSA represents most mental health workers including mental health nurses, community mental health workers, psychologists, social workers, and child and adolescent specialists. 'There is a crisis in ever hospital where mental health workers are under more pressure than ever. The phased withdrawal of police support is compounding the problem. 'But recruitment is happening at a snail's pace. It can often take months for Health NZ to sign off on hiring even one worker, who is often lost to the private sector or to higher paying jobs overseas because of these long delays. 'It's just not good enough. We have a dedicated Minister for Mental Health for the first time and the Government promised New Zealanders it would get on top of the problem. 'The buck stops with the Minister. But unless the Government properly funds and resources mental health, patient care will suffer. This is a critical frontline service and New Zealanders deserve better.'
