3rd Annual Lunar New Year Gala Returns to Springfield
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Chinese American Cultural & Heritage Society hosted the 3rd Annual Lunar New Year Gala Sunday. Hundreds of people from all over the region gathered to watch vibrant cultural performances, and enjoy traditional food.
'It's the culture, it's very unique. We have art from ancient China and now it's like generation by generation' says Haian Lin, the co-founder of Chinese American Cultural & Heritage Society.
This will be year of the snake, which represents many qualities, like wealth, good luck, and wisdom.
'It really is embracing the entire community,' expressed State Rep. Angelo Puppolo of 12th Hampden District. 'Not just here in Springfield, but the Commonwealth and beyond.'
Chan Lin, a Volunteer for the Chinese American Cultural and Heritage Society told 22News, 'We have the chance to taste the food, and then we have all this; all the culture activity.'
Haian Lin added, 'So many are helping us, and we try to preserve the culture and also promote unification.'
Lunar New Year will take place Wednesday, and many hope to celebrate the Chinese culture and the good they're looking forward to in the new year.
