Ryan Yarbrough adds to surprising Yankees emergence by conquering mighty Dodgers
Access the Yankees beat like never before Don't miss Greg Joyce's text messages from The Bronx and beyond — he's giving Sports+ subscribers the inside buzz on the Yankees. Sign Up Now LOS ANGELES — Maybe the Yankees finally found the key to beating LA: a junk-balling journeyman throwing at speeds below what they drive on the 405. And maybe, just maybe, Ryan Yarbrough, the former Dodger, had a little bit of needed inside info. Advertisement That's just a guess, of course. But how else to explain his six marvelous innings of one-run baseball after the Dodgers destroyed Yankees pitching — including Cy Young candidate Max Fried — all weekend? The lefty Yarbrough, who's been nothing short of a revelation in pinstripes, continued his surprising recent mastery in shutting down his old team, one of the best in baseball and, more to the point, the Yankees' recent nemesis. Yarbrough threw almost every pitch in the 60s, 70s and 80s and still managed to dominate the high-powered Dodgers, thanks to unusual angles and varying velocities, in the Yankees' necessary 7-3 victory before a sold-out Dodger Stadium.

Over RM1 million sales by student-run firms
Published on: Thursday, May 01, 2025 Published on: Thu, May 01, 2025 Text Size: Andi (center) presents the Best PROTUNE Company Award to SMK Balung Tawau. Kota Kinabalu: Student-run companies, under the Tunas Niaga (PROTUNe) programme in the State, recorded a total sales of RM1,405,430 over a period of nine months in 2024. Assistant Minister of Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship (Sabah), Datuk Andi Muhammad Suryadi Bandy, said this achievement also included a net profit of RM313,957 as a result of the direct involvement of the students in business activities. 'The objective of PROTUNe is not just to build business skills among secondary school students, but also to inculcate values of creativity, innovation, and leadership. 'More importantly, the programme also helps in the development of self-identity, courage, and agility in students, enabling them to face the challenges of the real business world,' he said. Andi said this while officiating the PROTUNe Convention Award Ceremony for Sabah State 2024 on Tuesday. According to him, the programme, organised by Sedcovest Holdings Sdn Bhd in collaboration with the Sabah State Education Department, had successfully cultivated an entrepreneurial spirit at the school level through practical training and field exposure for students. During the event, he also expressed appreciation for the outstanding success of the student company, Michaelian Millionaires from St Michael Secondary School, Penampang, which won Best Project and Best Presenter at the KPM-BSN National Financial Literacy Convention 2024. To add further acclaim, the Michaelian Millionaires also represented the country at the Thailand Inventors Day 2024 in the rural industry field project category. 'This proves that Sabah students are capable of excelling on the international stage if given the right opportunities, guidance, and exposure,' Andy said. He added that the Ministry is committed to supporting various entrepreneurial initiatives through agencies like Sedco and Sedcovest, including providing training, mentoring, and conducive infrastructure for students to start their businesses. 'Programmes like this are among the strategic steps to reduce the unemployment rate, because it opens doors for students to become job creators, not just job seekers,' he said. Andi also urged all PROTUNe participants to maintain their entrepreneurial spirit and use the experience gained as a foundation for success in facing the era of digitalisation. A total of 10 award categories were contested at the convention to recognise the contributions and achievements of participants, including Best Kiosk Award, Best Creative Product, Best Service, and Best PROTUNe Company. Also present were Sedcovest Holdings Sdn Bhd Chairman Datuk Rubbin Guribah, a representative of Sabah Education Department director Datu Asrah Datuu Ambas, Sedco Group Deputy General Manager Azrul Ahmad and Sedcovest General Manager Abdul Rahim Mohd Zain. * Follow us on Instagram and join our Telegram and/or WhatsApp channel(s) for the latest news you don't want to miss. * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
